When this option is enabled, sheet layouts that were prepared with Prinect Signa Station will be added automatically to the jobs that will be processed with this sequence.
After you enable the "Add Layout" option, you still have to define how many sheet layouts and which ones will be added to the job. To do this, click "New" in "Import Instructions". A new parameter section displays.
Prerequisite: To be able to add sheet layouts automatically to jobs, the relevant layout files must already be created at the time you set up the "AddLayout" sequence and be available in the system environment of the Prinect Manager server. We recommend that you create a separate folder for the automatic assignment of layouts in the "PTJobs" or "PTConfig" directory of the Prinect server and copy the layout files to this folder.
To select a layout file that will be assigned automatically to the jobs, click the "Browse..." button to display a dialog where you can select the appropriate layout file. The selected file displays, showing its (UNC) path in the "Prinect Signa Station Layout" box.
Note: You can also use the "AddLayout" sequence for the "Smart Automation" functionality and in this case assignment of the layout can be controlled in relation to a product code (see also Smart Templates). For this assignment to be possible, you must have inserted a product code placeholder in the path to the sheet layout, for example,
"\\<prinectServer>\Layout-Repository\$ProductCode.jdf\data.jdf)".
The "ProductCode.jdf" placeholder with a prefixed § causes the layout assigned to the used product code to be assigned dynamically to the job concerned in the Smart Automation workflow.
You create a new group of parameters for layout assignment each time you click "New".
Note: The selected sheet layouts are also assigned to all the product parts (see Add Product(s)). For that reason, the layouts may have to be edited accordingly for a versioning workflow.
"Force Unique Sheet Names in the Job" option
When you enable this option, the system automatically makes sure that sheet names do not occur twice. This could happen if the automatically assigned layout has at least one sheet name that is already in the job currently being processed. In this case, the sheet names of automatically assigned layouts are changed to prevent the name from being used twice. All the sheets are always renamed with this function.
Rename Mode
This is where you select how the sheet names will be renamed to avoid duplicate sheet names.
Note: Take note of the following item if you use a rule where the old sheet name and a new number will be used (see below): If the old sheet name already has a number at the place where the new number will be inserted, the new number will overwrite this existing number. This means that the new number is not added to an existing number in the name.
Below you will find an example for the following data for each mode:
Additional Name: New-
Start Number: 003
Description of the rename modes:
•"Additional Name & existing Name"
The text entered in "Additional Name" together with the old sheet name now make up the new sheet name.
Example for new sheet names: New-sheet1, New-sheet2, New-sheet3, etc.
•"Existing Name & Number"
The old sheet name and the new number (see "Start Number") now make up the new sheet name.
Example for new sheet names: sheet003, sheet004, sheet005, etc.
Remember in this case that the new number replaces the number in the old sheet name if the old sheet name has a number. In other words, the new number is not simply added on.
•"Additional Name & Number"
The text entered in "Additional Name" together with the new number (see "Start Number") now make up the new sheet name.
Example for new sheet names: New-003, New-004, New-005, etc.
•"Number & Existing Name & Number"
The old sheet name and the new number (see "Start Number") now make up the new sheet name.
Example for new sheet names: 003sheet003, 004sheet004, 005sheet005, etc.
Remember in this case that the new number replaces the number in the old sheet name. In other words, the new number is not simply added on.
•"Number & Additional Name & Number"
The text entered in "Additional Name" together with the new number (see "Start Number") now make up the new sheet name.
Example for new sheet names: 003New-003, 004New-004, 005New-005, etc.
"Additional Name" box
This is where you can enter a part of a name that will be inserted as the "Additional Name" when "Additional Name & Existing Name", "Additional Name & Number" and "Number & Additional Name & Number" are used.
"Create Page List" option
A page list is created automatically during automatic layout assignment when this option is enabled.
A page list is a list of placeholders for the (PDF) document pages that are required to define the order of the pages and their position in the print product. For example, there may be three PDF documents for a booklet: one document with the cover pages and two with the content pages. After you import these documents to the Integration Manager, you can assign each page to a page placeholder and, by doing this, give it its place in the brochure. Page assignment is a step that must always be done. It can be either manual (e.g. with "drag-and-drop") or also automatic ("APA": "Automatic Page Assignment"). The placeholders of the page lists have set positions in the sheet layouts and this consequently also defines the position of the document pages in the sheet layouts.
"Use Default Name" option
The name of the automatic page list is derived by default from the layout name with the syntax "PL_Layoutname" if this option is enabled. If this option is disabled, you can enter a name in "Page List Name" that will be used for the new page list. The new page list that is created will replace a page list if a print job already has one. If you assign several layouts automatically in this sequence, for example, for a 4up and an 8up layout, you can use the same page list for both layouts by enabling "Create Page List" in each case and typing in the same name in "Page List Name".
