Parameters that are valid only for CIP3 sheet previews
CIP3 data are saved in their own file format, CIP3-PPF. The extension is normally ".ppf". CIP3 data contain the following elements:
•PostPress data
Control data for cutting and folding the printed sheets. This information is generated in the imposition software, e.g. at the Prinect Signa Station.
•Sheet preview bitmaps for ink zone control of the press.
"ASCII Format" option
Here you can specify whether you wish to generate the CIP3 images in binary code or in the ASCII Hex Decode file format. We recommend that you select the faster binary code and do not enable this option.
"Compression" option
If "ASCII Format" is not enabled, you can enable this option so that the sheet preview data will be compressed. The file size of the CIP3 files is reduced by the compression.
"Front and Back in one File" option
Normally, a separate PPF file is created for each surface. In the case of double-sided printing with automatic perfecting, a PPF file containing the data for the front and the back of the page is required. A joint PPF file for the front and back page is created when this option is checked. Settings defined by the Prinect Signa Station have priority.
"Force Front" option
Check this option to name the "Back" surfaces as "Front" surfaces in the PPF. This means that only "Front" PPFs are created.
Note: You can enable this option only if "Front and Back in one File" is not enabled.
"File Extension" box
This is where you can define the file extension for CIP3 files. Normally you should leave the ".ppf" setting as it is. You should change this setting only if a different file extension is expected by a device downstream in processing.
"Orientation" list box
Normally, changing the orientation of the sheet previews is not necessary in a correctly set PPF workflow. You should check your workflow down the whole route (Prinect Signa Station to Prepress Interface) again if despite this it should be necessary to set orientation at this point.
You can set mirroring and rotation of the image data in the "Orientation" list box. A 90° rotation may have been defined by the Prinect Signa Station.
The following table shows how the settings in the "Orientation" list box affect rotation and/or mirroring of the sheet previews:

"Use FTP Output" option
You can file the generated PPF files on an FTP server from where they can be "fetched", for example, by a Prepress Interface software. To do this, you must enter the FTP address, the user name and the password. These files can also be used by machines that are not integrated into the system environment of the Prinect workflow.
