"Marks Replacement" Option

Dynamic marks (see Dynamic Marks) are replaced by their current values if you enable this option. In this option, you can also set up various options for the handling of marks during proofing.

"Alternate Low Resolution Images for Acrobat" option

When this option is enabled, additional, low-resolution images of images that are in PDF documents are created for a fast view in Adobe Acrobat and are integrated into the PDF documents. These alternative images in monitor resolution display on the screen instead of the high-resolution images when you open the documents in Acrobat. This speeds up opening of the documents. The high-resolution images are used for printing or for viewing the images scaled up.

Note: In the Prinect Cockpit, you can open a preview of a document in Acrobat, for example, by double-clicking the document in an open job in the "Jobs" section in the "Pages" and "1ups" options. Any alternative, low-resolution images in the document will then be used for the preview.

In "... if above" you set as of which resolution in the original images alternative images will be created. You set the resolution of the generated alternative images in "Subsample to". The default resolution of 72 dpi is adequate for most monitor presentations.

Low-resolution images may already have been calculated in the PDF pages when running through the "Preflight" sequence. If required, you can reduce the resolution of these images even further.

"Replace High Resolution Images, if Possible" option

If you enable this option, high-resolution images are removed from the documents, leaving only the alternate low-resolution images. This happens only if there are alternate low-resolution images in the documents. You can create alternate images with the "Alternate Low Resolution Images for Acrobat" option.

You can use "Replace High Resolution Images, if Possible", for example, to create compact PDF files that can be sent easily by e-mail for evaluation on the screen by a customer.

Prerequisite: High-resolution images can only be removed if there are matching low-resolution images in the pages.

"Remove all Marks" option

All dynamic marks are removed from the document if you enable this option.

"Remove all marks if no pages or only blank pages are assigned" option

In digital printing, billing is with the manufacturer of the press and based on the number of printed pages. For that reason, unnecessary costs arise when marks are printed on blank pages. When this option is enabled, all the marks defined in the layout are removed if a surface has no content. This avoids the unnecessary output of surfaces that only have marks and no content.

"Remove PostScript" option

This option works only if the documents created with "SendBookletPDF" are to be output as digital prints. The PostScript code that is in some marks is removed if you enable this option.

This option does not work for output to plate or film.

"Remove traps" option

Trapping is needed to cover up flashes or color margins that may be caused by register errors when overprinting several color separations. Trap lines are not needed for proofing (except if you specifically want to check the trap lines) and only make the file size bigger. For that reason, we recommend that you enable this option for proofing.

"Color Output" parameter

This setting lets you define how special spot colors ("DieLine", "Transparent", "Inspection Level") will be handled during output with "ImposePDF".

"DieLine" (or "ProofColor") colors are spot colors used by Prinect Signa Station in the marks layer, with which the page and sheet outlines are shown as lines. These lines are important only for proofing. They must be removed for imaging.

"Transparent" colors are generally varnish colors.

"Inspection Level" colors define a specific color separation ("Inspection Level" in PDF) that solely has marks for "Heidelberg Inspection Control". You can define these marks at Prinect Signa Station using the "Inspection Control Mark" property.

The following options are available:

All Colors as in Job Settings:

If set accordingly in the job settings, all the colors in the document including any "DieLine" / "Transparent" / "Inspection Level" separations are output.

All Colors except "DieLine":

If set accordingly in the job settings, all the colors in the document except for the "DieLine" spot color are output.

All Colors except "Transparent":

If set accordingly in the job settings, all the colors in the document except for the "Transparent" colors are output.

All Colors except "DieLine" or "Transparent":

If set accordingly in the job settings, all the colors in the document except for the "DieLine" and/or "Transparent" colors are output.

Only "DieLine" Colors:

Only the "DieLine" separation is output. Use this setting if you wish to create PDF documents that show only the page and sheet outlines (Formproof).

Only Inspection Level Colors:

If this option is set, the ImposePDF sequence creates PDF documents that contain only the "Inspection Level" with the appropriate Inspection Control marks. These documents can be used by Inspection Control. If this option is set, you can set that inspection levels will be created automatically with "AutoCreate Inspection Level" in the list box.

"Draw Boxes" options

By enabling the Pages, Bleed, Paper, Sheet options, you can set that the related boxes will be output in the proof in the special spot color, "ProofColor". Clip paths can also be shown in "ProofColor"  in the proof.

"Dashed" option

The boxes are drawn as dashed lines when you enable this option.

"Line weight" parameter

This is where you can set the line weight of the box lines.

"AutoCreate Inspection Level" parameter

You can use this list box only if "Only Inspection Level Colors" was set. This is where you can set an inspection level that will be created automatically (or not). The set inspection level is determined from the clip paths.

Automatic creation of inspection levels has the following benefits:

Greater accuracy when creating the inspection level that comprises all the 1ups.

Inspection levels no longer have to be created manually with external tools (PDF Toolbox).

Inspection levels are now created in just a few steps because PDF Toolbox only has to be used for marking single objects that are to be inspected more closely.

"Set Proof/DieLine Colors to Knockout" option

When this option is enabled, "ProofColor" or "DieLine" objects are set to knockout so that the objects lying below them are hidden. This gives you a reliable way to display "ProofColor", that is normally overprinting, in dark parts of the page as well. (Usually, ProofColor cannot be seen in dark parts of the image)

"Indicate Marks in Proof at Lower Area Coverage" parameter

Enter a value less than 100% in this box to output marks in the proof in a lower area coverage As a result, the entire sheet layout including the marks is displayed during output with "ImposePDF", and proofer ink is saved at the marks if the PDF documents are output to a proofer.

"Convert ProofColor in Black-and-White Surfaces to K" option

This option is designed for the case that an imposition proof will be output in black-and-white only. If you enable this option, all the objects defined as "ProofColor" are converted to K so that the imposition proof does not have to be output in color.

"Replacement Font for Missing Marks Font" option

This option is designed for the case that a font defined in marks is not available on the Prinect server. The missing fonts will be replaced by the font you entered in the text box if this option is enabled.
