Digital Printing

The Prinect Manager fully supports job processing for output to Heidelberg and Gallus digital presses and, to a lesser extent, to digital presses of various manufacturers.

"Prinect Digital Front End" option

The "Prinect Digital Front End (Prinect DFE)" option lets you prepare print jobs for digital printing and output them to digital presses.

The Prinect Digital Front End offers a complete workflow environment for digital printing, from checking and preparing the incoming PDF documents up to automated digital printing.

A simple CTP device can also be driven if the Prinect DFE is used as a stand-alone setup.

If the Prinect DFE is used in a Prinect Integration Manager environment, hybrid workflows with parts coming from offset and digital printing are possible.

Besides the toner-based digital presses like the Heidelberg Versafire models, high-performance inkjet presses like Gallus Labelfire and Heidelberg Primefire can also be operated with the Prinect DFE.

"Prinect Digital Print Connector" option

"Prinect Digital Print Connector" lets you connect third-party digital presses to the Prinect DFE or to the Prinect workflow. Ricoh, Hewlett Packard, Xerox, Canon and Kodak digital presses are supported. Connection of these digital presses is through virtual printers. These are machine configurations that are set up at the user interface on the terminal PC of the respective press.

Prinect Portal

The Prinect Portal gives you access to different functions of the Prinect Integration Manager and Prinect Business Manager. In addition, it also displays important information in all of the Prinect environment. Permissions management for the whole Prinect system is possible from the Prinect Portal. The Prinect Portal replaces all WEB portals that have existed to date, e.g. "Prinect Remote Access" or the Prinect Business Manager options, "Customer Portal", "Sales Portal" and "Estimation Portal".

The Prinect Portal can run as an internal variant (access only via intranet, this means access only by local members of staff) or as an external variant (access via intranet and Internet, in this case also by customers and sales representatives).

Each user has his/her own "dashboard" (overview page) on which widgets (functional units) are placed.

"Prinect Portal Services" option

Prinect Remote Access was replaced by "Prinect Portal Services". Prinect Portal Services lets your customers access certain areas of the Prinect Manager through the web, i.e. through the Prinect Portal. In other words, customers can use the web to upload their own job files to the Prinect system, download proof files for approval, etc.

In the WEB User Interface of Prinect Portal Services, your customers have access solely to a specific server that is connected with the production server of the Integration Manager. Customers cannot intervene directly in production.

Prinect Portal Services essentially provides the following functions:

An efficient approval procedure.

Data exchange between the print shop and customers.

Creation of jobs, also in conjunction with Prinect Direct Access.

Preflight of job specific data supplied by the customer.

Please see the documentation of Prinect Portal Services for more information.

"Prinect Archive System" option

With the Prinect Archive System, Heidelberg offers the prerequisites for lasting, flexible and convenient archiving of your production jobs.

Archive administration of a print job does not interrupt productive work within the Prinect Manager.

The Prinect Archive System is divided into the following elements:

Functions in the Prinect Manager Cockpit

The Web user interface for management and organization of the archive

A few inputs at the Prinect Manager Cockpit are enough to trigger the archiving of data or to retrieve a file from the archive.

Please refer to the documentation of the Archive System for more information.

"Prinect Archiver Pro" option

The Prinect Archiver Pro is a database application that lets you save and manage content data for print production.

The "Prinect Archiver Pro Client" user interface is a HTML-based web application that you use to control the database.

The "Process Monitoring" function gives you an overview of the processes started in Prinect Archiver Pro and their status.

You configure the file servers and start nodes for filing your data in "Administration".

Please see the documentation of the Prinect Archive System / Prinect Archiver Pro for more information.

The "Data Terminal" option

You can send operating data to the Prinect Manager server from any workstation using the Data Terminal. Communication between the Prinect Manager server and the Data Terminal takes place via JDF/JMF.

The Data Terminal permits production data collection from machines that cannot be connected online. This makes job-specific manual production data collection possible for these presses and finishing devices as well.

The Data Terminal can represent one or more devices (presses and finishing machines) within your workflow. This allows you to record workplaces which are not yet automated or are only partially automated.

Please see the documentation of the Data Terminal for more information.

"Scheduler" option

The Scheduler displays an electronic schedule board for all processes in the print shop. The Scheduler allows you to plan operations of jobs at cost centers (machines). The specifications of operations and cost centers can be predefined by a Management Information System or created manually in the Prinect Cockpit using the Planning Assistant. Operations on external machines, i.e. operations run by external service providers, can also be displayed and scheduled in the Scheduler.

Which machines can be planned depends on the enabled licensing options.

"Analyze Point" option

Analyze Point is part of the Prinect Manager and visualizes the current processing state of all the jobs and machines on the monitor. The speed, miscellaneous job and counter information and the currently loaded job can be graphically displayed. In addition, Analyze Point generates job reports that give you detailed analyses of the processed jobs (max. 15,000). The reports contain diagrams of the data that was evaluated. This makes it possible to display both the process status and the process progress, i.e. the respective curves for the speed and number of good sheets and waste sheets.

When production is started, status information about the current job is continuously updated. Information such as the makeready, washup, start and end times and the counter readings of the machines is reported and is always up-to-date at the time when the relevant action takes place.
