Layout selection

All the layouts in the job display on the left. One layout must be selected in order for all existing values to display in the Planning Assistant and so that you can start planning. For a clear overview, all layouts are tagged either as planned or unplanned.

Planned layout refers to all layouts that were already planned with the Planning Assistant.

This tag becomes active in the following cases:

·When you confirm your changes with "Finish" after planning your layouts with the Planning Assistant.

·When you select a different layout and confirm "Save changes?" after planning your layouts in the Planning Assistant. By doing this, you can plan all your layouts without having to quit the Planning Assistant.

Unplanned layout

Unplanned layout refers to all layouts that were not yet planned with the Planning Assistant.

"Recalculate amounts" option

It is important where the delivery quantity for the job is defined as this influences whether or not "Recalculate amounts" is applied:

Case 1:

The delivery quantity is entered in the "Delivery quantity" step in the Planning Assistant. Manual inputs in the Planning Assistant are always taken into account when setting up a plan. In this case, the amounts and allowances are recalculated based on the delivery quantity that is entered. The "Recalculate amounts" option has no impact in the case of manual inputs.

Case 2:

The delivery quantity was not planned or modified in the Planning Assistant but somewhere else (MIS, Job Settings). In this case, "Recalculate amounts" is critical for calculation of the amounts. The new or modified delivery quantity displays in the "Delivery quantity" planning step.

"Recalculate amounts" set: All the amounts are recalculated based on the new (modified) delivery quantity.

"Recalculate amounts" not set: The new (modified) delivery quantity displays in the "Delivery quantity" planning step. If you have to recalculate the amounts because another machine was selected or the allowances were edited manually, this recalculation is based on the previous value set for the delivery quantity.

"Customize process network" option

"Process network" refers to a combination of print jobs, sheets or sheet layouts and sheet-processed sequences. Consequently, sheets or sheet layouts and matching sequence templates must be assigned to the job. You can view and/or edit these elements in a job in the "Processing" step (see 'Processing' Section).

It is important where the changes affecting the process network are defined as this influences whether or not "Customize process network" is applied:

Case 1:

In the Planning Assistant, you can manually select machines, machine variants or sequences. By doing so, you modify the process network. Manual inputs in the Planning Assistant are always taken into account when setting up a plan. In this case, the process network is customized. The "Customize process network" option has no impact in the case of manual inputs.

Case 2:

Changes affecting the process network were not made in the Planning Assistant but somewhere else (MIS, Job Settings). In this case, "Customize process network" works as follows:

"Customize process network" set: Changes affecting the process network are included in the new plan. Example: A layout change makes it necessary to use a different folding machine. Planning is done with the new folding machine if the option is set. The customized process network can be seen in "Jobs > Processing".

"Customize process network" not set: Changes affecting the process network are not included in the new plan. This lets you control that only modified delivery quantities or allowances, for example, will be incorporated into your planning.
