"Color Code Assignment Method for Third-party Workflows" section

In practice, you can have the situation that not all process colors are assigned or that, during a PPF import from third-party workflows, other process colors with different color codes and a different color order have to be assigned to the Prinect standard color space with matching color order (e.g. BCMY).

In the "Color code assignment" list box, you can select a method that will be used to assign the colors to be imported to the Prinect process colors. The following options are available:

Allow spot colors only as of X, Z, U, V...

If multiple colors (B, C, M, Y, X, Z, U, V, ...) are imported, the first four colors are taken as standard process colors and all other colors are taken as spot colors.

Allow spot colors for B, C, M, Y

If 4-component colors that are not defined as Prinect process colors are imported, they are assigned to the Prinect process colors B, C, M, Y. The color order is defined in the "Order" list box on the right.

Handle all colors as spot colors

All colors are imported as spot colors, there is no assignment to process colors.

Examples:

Case 1: Prinect Inpress Control controls using "Black" (color code "B"). A color must therefore always be assigned to the color code "B".

Case 2: A 4-color color control strip (defined in the prepress system) can now be used instead of a 6-color color control strip.

Case 3: In ArtPro, only spot colors are defined for flexo printing and there is the "Yellow" spot color, among other things that is not to be used as process color Y but as a spot color. For example, the following colors are to be used as spot colors:

PLM 1234

Yellow

PLM 5678

PLM 9876

Then "Handle all colors as spot colors" is selected in the "Color code assignment" list box. B, M,C, Y is selected as the color order.

Function Description

Example: A sheet is made up of process colors cyan, magenta, yellow and spot color PANTONE 2727 C. If "Allow spot colors for BCMY" is selected, PANTONE 2727 C is now assigned to the color code of a process color. In "Order" you can define the color code to which spot color PANTONE 2727 C will be assigned. In this example, the sequence "BCMY" has been selected, which means that the spot color PANTONE 2727 C is assigned to color code B.

You can define how the print order on the press should proceed by selecting the "Print Order" option.

Take print order from PPF.

When you select this item, the print order on the press is adopted from the PPF file.

Take print order from marks colors (BCMYXZ...).

When you select this item and "Allow spot colors for BCMY" is selected, the color code is assigned first and then the print order on the press is defined based on this assignment.
