The color separations shown for a sheet and operation are printed on the machine assigned to the operation.

The following example will be used to illustrate an operation:

The name of the operation is "Body 3(4) / 4(4)".

•Body = sheet name

•3(4) = There are four color separations for the front, of which three will be printed in this oper­ation (see "Chroma" to see which ones these are).

•4(4) = There are four color separations for the back, all of which will be printed in this operation (see "Chroma" to see which ones these are).

Split Amounts

The selected print operation is split into two equal operations. As a result, the total amount can be split and produced on several machines. Remember that you must output several plate sets in a par­allel production. See Change Press Assignment to a Different Format.

Merge Amounts

Select several operations whose amounts you split in an earlier step and combine them together again with this button.

Split Separations

You can divide up the color separations among several operations if you plan to print more than one separation in an operation. Select the operation you want and click "Split Separations". A window opens. This is where you can click the color separations that will be assigned to a new, subsequent operation. You can also select a different machine for the new operation.

Note: Only machines that are in the same machine cluster display for selection. See Clusters for details on how to create a cluster.

Merge Separations

You can merge color separations again to output them in one operation. Select the operations to be merged and click "Merge Separations".

•"Sequence" / "Machine" list box

Select the sequence you want and the machine you want for this sequence. If allowance, setup time and production time are set up for the selected machine, then these data are set by default in the input boxes. (You can view the setup of the machine in the device assistant in "Admini­stration > System" > selected machine > "Edit" context-sensitive menu.) The "Sheet-fed Print­ing" sequence will be selected automatically based on your settings.

Change Press Assignment with Identical Format

You can use the Planning Assistant to change the press assignment with the same format. The pre­requisite: both presses must be in the same cluster. See Clusters.

1.Select the sheet for which to change the press assignment.

2.Select the press to reschedule in the "Machine" list box.

3.Select the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence for this machine in the "Sequence" list box.

4.Click "Finish".

The machine assignment has been changed. You can check your process network in "Process­ing". The "SheetfedPrinting" sequence must match the machine just scheduled there.

Remove Quantities from Stock

This function lets you create a new operation for a stock withdrawal. Part of the production volume is replaced by a pre-produced quantity. In the print operation, the quantity withdrawn from the stock is subtracted from the print quantity.

Note: Remember there is no automatic feedback to stock management.

"Production" in context-sensitive menu

•delegate
Use this function to remove the selected operation from processing of the current job. This lets you run this operation in another job.

Note: Remember that this is not assigned automatically to another job.

•execute
Use this function to return an operation set to "delegate" back to "execute".

Context-sensitive Menu for "Separations"

This function is relevant for print operations planned by separations in the MIS if the MIS uses place­holder colors. The placeholder names must be assigned to the real color names using the "Assign col­ors" function if you are going to print by separations.

Yellow warning sign in the operation

The planned separations are compared with the separations available for the surface. Operation is highlighted by a yellow warning sign if a separation planned for the operation has no equivalent on the surface. The warning also displays if there are more colors in the contents than planned. The tool­tip above the warning sign names the planned separations that do not have equivalent colors in the content or the superfluous colors in the content that are not planned for the present operation.

When it can be used

Color mapping is not necessary if a surface will be printed in one operation because all the separa­tions will automatically be output correctly. This means that you can use the "Separations" button only if the color separations are divided up among several operations.

Operation

Select the operations for which you would like color mapping. Click the "Separations" button. The "Assign colors" dialog displays.

This dialog shows the separations presently planned for the operation. They are listed in the order of printing. There is a list box beside each separation, containing the color names in the contents that are not yet planned for another operation of the same surface. Besides the list boxes, you will find a button for deleting the separation from the list of separations to be printed.

By default, the list boxes are set to the planned color names, provided they exist. Available, unplanned colors display in alphabetical order for planned separations that are not assigned to avail­able colors. The OK button is dimmed if the same color is assigned to two different separations.

If there are more available color names than planned color names, the list is extended by the required number of items. The additional items in "Planned Colors" are first of all blank and do not have any color names.

Printing Material

At least one "Precutting" operation is listed automatically for each sheet, even if there is no precut­ting. The operation is crossed out if a sheet is not to be precut.

Change Printing Material

This function lets you select a different printing material that forces precutting. Example: You wish to select a printing material that will give you two 1ups.

You see solely a list of printing materials whose size is at least that of the currently selected printing material. The following is valid if no printing material is defined: paper size of the printing material selection >= maximum paper size of the plate template.

Note: Make other changes to the printing material in the open job. "Layout" step > selected sheet > "Properties" button > "Materials" tab > "Change" button.
