Jobs — Planning Assistant
Video Tutorial: The video shows the options for adding and modifying data in jobs with the Planning Assistant in the PPF workflow
Prinect Pressroom Manager - Planning Assistant
The Planning Assistant makes it easy for the Prinect operator to reschedule a scheduled job and schedule it again in the jobs created in the Prinect Cockpit.
The Planning Assistant has the following functions for this:
•Delegate operations to other jobs (in other words, remove them from processing of the present job and produce them in another job).
•Create operations that produce to stock or that withdraw from stock.
•Select and reschedule the desired prepress, press and postpress machines that are configured in the system.
•Edit the make-ready and production times, the quantities and allowances,
•Add, delete, split and merge operations.
•Split quantities for several machines.
•Split color separations into several operations.
•If you plan to print by separations using placeholder colors, the correct color names from the documents can be assigned to the placeholder names.

Definition of terms used
In this documentation, planning steps refer to the steps suggested by the Planning Assistant when setting up the plan.
For jobs without versioning, the delivery quantity is equivalent to the print run quantity. If you are working with versioning, delivery quantity refers to the quantity that will be produced per version. The sum of delivery quantities per version gives you the total delivery quantity or print run quantity.
In the Planning Assistant, quantities (amounts) are calculated in each planning step. A quantity depends on the planning step you are at, e.g. the number of press sheets ("Sheet-fed Printing" step) or the number of folding sheets ("Sheet finishing" step).
Notes on operation
•Case 1: Replanning a planned job:
Generally, a job is planned at the MIS. Planning is also possible at the Prinect Cockpit in the Job Settings.
The Planning Assistant displays, showing the planning data of the job. You can modify the parameters named above, for example, enter a different delivery quantity or select a different machine. All of the planning will be matched to the changes you made.
•Case 2: Creating a job at the Prinect Cockpit:
In this case, you can use the Planning Assistant to plan the amounts, allowances, operations and the process network.
Based on the layout defaults, the Planning Assistant automatically suggests suitable machines to you, including their setup and production times and the operations The amounts and allowances are calculated automatically and suggested based on the delivery quantity you entered and on the suggested machines. In this way, you can generate and use consistent planning data.
The Planning Assistant guides you through the planning of the production run in the planning steps listed below: (you can see the steps across the top of the user interface).
•Product or Article
•Delivery
•Binding
•Gluing folding cartons (packaging printing)
•Sheet finishing
•Press
•Printing material
•Platemaking
Planning data are calculated, ranging from the finished product up to platemaking. You can edit a completed plan during job processing right up to just before printing. However, it is not possible to replan operations of a process currently running (e.g. folding). You can edit planning specifically for each planning step or operation. All the parameters that are related to a planning change can be matched automatically.
