"Advanced" tab
"Preliminaries" group
This is where you define settings that prepare all the edited documents for the subsequent steps in the workflow, for example, by making the orientation or size of the pages uniform.
"Page Rotation" parameter
It is advisable to set a page rotation at this point if, for example, all the pages of the documents to be edited are head-to-foot or rotated to a side.
With "90° Clockwise Rotation", "180° Rotation" and "90° Counterclockwise Rotation", it doesn't matter whether page orientation is portrait or landscape. They are always rotated.
"Page Size" option
The pages of all the edited documents are set uniformly to the set page size if this option is enabled. The page size set in this option modifies the trim box (see also "Trim box is missing or will be overridden" parameter). The box with the absolute page dimensions is disabled when you select "Scale", and you can enter a percentage for the new width (first value) and height (second value) in the box below it. For example, the A4 pages are enlarged to 420 mm x 594 mm if you enter a value of 200 % for width and height. If you enter different percentages for width and height, the page trim box is scaled accordingly. The page contents are not distorted by these settings.
"Proportional" option
The page size of the documents is matched proportionally if this option is enabled.
Example: The page size is set to A4 (210 x 297 mm), the page size of the checked documents is US Letter (215.9 x 279.4 mm). The size of the document pages is matched proportionally until the page width matches the A4 format, i.e. the new page height is 271.8 mm. The page contents are not distorted, but contents may be cut off when making the dimension of a page smaller.
The US Letter pages are scaled to A4 page size (210 x 297 mm) if this option is not enabled.
"Remove traps" option
You should enable this option if you want to apply the full scope of color management of the Prinect workflow to the documents. All the traps (spreading lines) that may be in the documents are removed in this case. This option has no effect if there are no traps in the documents.
"Remove ProofColor" option
"ProofColor" (mainly defined as green) is a spot color that is not to be printed on high-resolution imagesetters. You can assign this color in the DTP program to objects that are only to appear on the proof. For example, you can define PDF boxes (media box, trim box, bleed box, etc.) or certain marks to have "ProofColor".
All the objects defined as "ProofColor" are removed from the output data if this option is enabled.
"Use particulars from the job's Product Description, if available" option
The "Page Size", "Number of Pages" and "Spot Colors" properties are imported from a print job that was created with a connected MIS (Management Information System) and used if this option is enabled. This applies to the parameters of the "Pages" and "Colors" tabs. This option does not affect documents that are not linked to an MIS job.
"Postprocessing" group
In this group, you can force the bleed box, media box or trim box to be recalculated. This means that any boxes in the PDF documents will be overwritten by the boxes defined in this group.
"Recalculate Bleed Box from Trim Box" option
When you enable this option, the bleed box is recalculated using the dimensions set in the "Left", "Right", "Top" and "Bottom" boxes of the trim box.
"Recalculate Media Box from Bleed Box" option
When you enable this option, the media box is recalculated using the dimensions set in the "Left", "Right", "Top" and "Bottom" boxes of the bleed box.
"Draw Page Trim Box" option
When you enable this option, the page trim box is drawn to the PDF document based on the page size entered in the document. You can set the line weight and define that the box line will be drawn as a dashed line.
"Draw Additional Inner Box" option
An additional box in the "ProofColor" is drawn within the trim box when you enable this option.
You set an offset in the "Offset to Page Trim Box" box.
"Draw Additional Outer Box" option
An additional box in the "ProofColor" is drawn outside the trim box when you enable this option.
You set an offset in the "Offset to Page Trim Box" box.
"Dimensioning" option
The dimensions are indicated on the outer side of the trim box when you enable this option. You can set the font and the font size for dimensioning.
In this group, you can define how low-resolution previews will be created that you can use at different points in the Prinect output workflow.
"Alternate Low Resolution Images for Acrobat and Signa Station" option
When this option is enabled, additional, low-resolution images of images that are in PDF documents are created for a fast view in Adobe Acrobat and Prinect Signa Station and are included into the PDF documents. These alternative images in monitor resolution display on the screen instead of the high-resolution images when you open the documents. This speeds up opening of the documents. The high-resolution images are used for printing or for viewing the images scaled up.
Note: In the Prinect Cockpit, you can open the PDF document to view it in Acrobat by double-clicking the document, for example, in the "Jobs" workspace > "Prepress" tab > "Pages" view. Any alternative, low-resolution images in the document will then be used for the preview.
In "... if above" you set as of which resolution in the original images alternative images will be created. You set the resolution of the generated alternative images with "Subsample to". The default resolution of 72 dpi is adequate for most monitor presentations.
"Thumbnails for Prinect Cockpit" option
You can use thumbnails to display the pages in the Prinect Cockpit if this option is enabled. You can use the thumbnails in "Jobs" > "Prepress" tab, for example, to assign pages to page list placeholders. The thumbnails show a preview of the contents of the document pages also in sheet layout views. Enabling this option is recommended because thumbnails are very useful for processing print jobs manually.
"Overviews for Prinect Business Manager and Prinect Portal" option
With this option enabled, single-page PDF files are generated that you can view in the Prinect Business Manager Production Monitor or in the Prinect Portal (WEB UI).
This option is disabled by default.
"Page Properties for Prinect Business Manager" option
When you enable this option, the Preflighter generates a report file (as XML) for every run, in which the properties of the document and the pages are listed. The Preflighter files these XML files to the same folder in which the related original PDF files are located. These XML files can be used in the Prinect Business Manager, for example, for Smart Automation or the 1up workflow.
"Shape Files (CAD) for Signa Station" option
In label documents, shape data are not supplied separately as a CFF2 file or similar format but they are contained in the PDF files.
When you enable this option, shape data, if any, are taken from the PDF documents for package printing and filed as shape files in the shape pool of Signa Station.
In the "Color Usage" list box, you can select which usage the shape files will be assigned to:
•Tool: Assigned as a shape tool
•External: Assigned as an external shape file
•Proof: Assigned for proofing
