"Trimmed size" group

Note: "Trimmed size" is dimmed if a press sheet layout created with the Montage Editor is used (see Montage Editor).

Normally, the page dimensions and orientation are taken from the PDF documents of the print job ("From PDF" option), in the form of a trim box that is defined in every PDF document. If necessary, you can let these properties in the preflight settings of the used Qualify sequence be corrected automatically or change them manually, e.g. using the Prinect PDF Toolbox.

In the list box for the trimmed size, you can either select a predefined page size or select the "User-defined" item and manually enter the width and height for the trimmed size.

You can enter a scaling factor (between 25% and 500%) in the "Scaling" box. This makes the trim boxes of the pages or 1ups on the sheets smaller or bigger without scaling the page or 1up contents. At the same time, scaling displays in the preview. The scaling value is red if you enter a value that is not permitted.

In the "Page Policies" list box you can set how the pages are fit into the trim boxes that can be scaled.

If the "Centered" option is selected, the pages are placed centered into the trim boxes. The page contents may be clipped if the trim boxes are scaled down (< 100%).

If the "Fit to Size" option is selected, the page contents are scaled proportionately so that they fit precisely into the size of the trim box. This is also applicable if the trim boxes are scaled (value in "Scaling" not equal to 100%).

If the "Bottom left" option is set, the pages are fit into the trim boxes so that the bottom left corners of the pages fit into the bottom left corners of the trim boxes. The page contents may be clipped if the trim boxes are scaled down (< 100%).

Note: Orientation of the pages (Portrait/Landscape) is matched automatically correctly to the sheet layout for standard sizes (e.g. A4). For example, orientation is matched automatically if a PagePrint sequence is used for several print jobs with different page orientation.

In the default settings of the PagePrint sequence ("Administration > Templates > Sequence Templates > PagePrint") you can set an orientation in the "Expected Orientation" list box because there is no information about the page orientation of PDF pages to be edited when a PagePrint sequence template is defined. By default, "Portrait" is set as the orientation. See also Paper and page settings > "Expected Orientation" option.
