Administration - Users (User Administration)

User

You will find the user administration in Administration > "Users" section.

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: "Users" is available only if the user logged in to the Cockpit has the appropriate access permissions.

User administration - concept

IconNoteNote: Prinect Production and its modules Integration, Press, Postpress and Digital Print represent the Prinect Workflow variant with the highest level of integration. For reasons of clarity, only the term Prinect Production will be used in the following. User administration is identical in all Prinect Production modules.

Prinect Production comes with a user administration of its own, i.e. the access rights for the users within the Prinect system environment operated with the Cockpit are managed in the Prinect user administration.

As a rule, the user data of Prinect Production is saved and managed in the master data store (MDS). All Prinect applications which are connected to the master data store are therefore available to all users.

IconNoteNote: The user data managed in the Master Data Store is used in Prinect Cockpit and also in Prinect Portal. For this reason, the data structures have to be matched. Individual user rights are no longer assigned either; instead, only group rights can be assigned.

IconNoteNote: To eliminate conflicts caused by invalidated properties of the user rights defined in older Prinect versions, there is a migration assistant in the "Permissions" tab. The wizard identifies the migration issues and offers steps to solve these issues.

The "User" section has the following tabs:

"User" Tab

"Groups" Tab

"Permissions" Tab

Generally recommended procedure for allocating permissions

When Prinect Production is started for the first time following installation, you should log on as "Administrator". This user account is preset with the authorizations required to define new users and assign authorization groups. Below, you find information on the following topics:

How do I create a new permissions group?

How do I delete a permissions group?

Permissions for Multi Users

You should proceed as follows when allocating permissions:

1.First create all permissions groups which you require in addition to the preset permissions groups.

2.Assign permissions to every user already set up by assigning him to the corresponding permissions groups. The user is then given the permissions of every group he is member of.

User rights in Cockpit and in the Windows user administration

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: The protection function should always be enabled In the "Security" area of the Cockpit Administration. See Write permissions in protected state. The following conditions must be met for a Cockpit user to receive the user rights required for job processing in Prinect Cockpit when the protection function is enabled:

The cockpit user is assigned the required authorization groups in the user administration of Cockpit.

At the same time, the user must be registered (with the same user name and password) as a (local) Windows or domain user in the computer administration of the Prinect server.

The user must also belong to the Windows user group "Prinect Operators".
