Late stage marks (TiffMarksCreator)
It may be the case, that changes in the production process are required at short notice, e. g. rescheduling to different press. Therefore it can be necessary to replace placeholder information in marks immediately beforde imaging in the already generated Tiff-B.
For this purpose, so called "Late stage marks" can be used. In a JDF workflow with Signa Station, these marks can be positioned and the placeholders can be defined with the Signa Station. In other workflows without Signa Station, the content of the late stage mark can be defined via a xml file, that is added to Form Output using the TiffMarksCreator.
Prerequisite for both workflows is the Plate Pilot.

Additional display "CTV" in the "dot gain" display
In the "Dot gain" display, "CTV" can now also be displayed for spot colors. The SCTV (Spot Color Tone Value) standard defined in ISO 20654 and based on L*a*b*, generalized CTV, can now be used to determine tone values for all colors that have a close relationship to the optical color impression.

Two methods for selecting the timing of the change in process step

For differentiated analysis of the times for the printing process steps, there are two options of registering the time for the change in process step in Analyze Point: Procedure 1: New printing operation when clamping the first pressure plate of a plate set (default setting) and procedure 2: New print operation when starting the Intellistart job change and end of reprint.

Verfahren "Analyze Point"

"Analyze Point" area

Choice of two trigger options for a new job on the machine

When setting up an offset press with the CDM device wizard, you can choose which trigger signal is used to register a new job in Analyze Point. The default setting is the time when the first plate of a new set of plates is clamped. Optionally (provided the prerequisites are met) the start of the Intelistart job change can be selected as the triggering time.

Changed parameterization for Hotfolder jobs

If you activate the "Use existing job" selection in the "If job number already exists" selection list in a Qualify sequence that is used in a Hotfolder job and if new jobs are then created using this sequence with the Hotfolder mechanism, this selection will be changed to "Create and use job with new job number" in the newly created orders. This automatic changeover of the functionality has internal reasons and ensures that the hot folder jobs are processed correctly.

Changed parameterization for Hotfolder jobs

If you define a Hotfolder in the "Administration> Hotfolder" area and assign a Qualify sequence to it in which the "Hotfolder" option is activated and parameterized, you can open the jobs created with this Hotfolder and edit the Qualify sequence there later. In this case, the “Current Order Group” option is not available in the “Order Group for New Order” pick list. This behavior has internal reasons and ensures that the hot folder jobs are processed correctly.

Password guidelines for the "Prinect" user account

The "Prinect" user account is created when you reinstall the License Manager software or the Production Manager. Since this user account has extensive authorizations in the Prinect system environment, new password rules have been introduced that meet current security requirements. These password rules are now explained in the online help for the License Manager (installation) and for the PMC (product updates).

Preflight reports incorrect page size in the MIS job

If the number of pages in the job PDF for jobs defined in the MIS that contain cover and content pages does not match the number of pages defined in the MIS, this can lead to incorrect page allocation in the production workflow. In a Qualify sequence, a corresponding check parameter can be activated in the "Normalization" area in the "Pages / One-up" tab. A different page number can then be corrected before processing.

Normally, the Prinect Server software starts automatically after the hardware was rebooted. If operating system updates are to be installed, multiple reboots are sometimes required. There is now a "Maintenance Function" so that you do not have to wait for Prinect to start every time.

The maintenance function is activated in the Prinect Supervisor by enabling the optional maintenance function for the "Stop" or "Restart" functions. If the maintenance function is enabled, the Prinect components are only restarted when the start is triggered manually in the PMC.
Important: A Prinect update, a cumulative update or a system upgrade evaluates this state and may prevent the Prinect software from starting.

Plate Pilot: Selection of target press
The user interface of Plate Pilot now also displays all (offset) presses connected to Prinect Production in addition to the CTP systems. This lets you choose the press that is to receive the printing plates managed by Plate Pilot. The plate trolley capacity is now managed in dependence of the selected press and no longer depends on the CTP system.

Plate Pilot: More intuitive configuration of plate stack generation
The program prevents that a "useless" configuration is saved for Plate Pilot if the chosen start or transport time is inconsistent. Until now, this was indicated with a red cross and a tooltip message and could be overlooked easily. The position of the "The plate stack will be put together automatically by the Plate Pilot" option also led to the wrong conclusion that the resulting configuration would apply to the current case only.
To prevent operator errors, the "The plate stack will be put together automatically by the Plate Pilot" option was moved below the settings for the Imaging and Transport times.
A warning is issued if this option is disabled and/or the times are inconsistent.
Saving the settings is still possible.

"Pages" step: "Create Versions with Page Lists" dialog: modified level names as default setting
In the "Create Versions with Page Lists" dialog (invoke with the context menu in the page list view in the "Pages" step) you can create new levels and rename the levels afterwards. Up to now, the level names were assigned by default by the system. Now the level names last modified are entered as the default.

New Cockpit section "HEIDELBERG Cloud"

The new parameter section "HEIDELBERG Cloud" was introduced in Cockpit to allow making settings for the HEIDELBERG Cloud. There are two tabs in this section: "IoT connection" and "Gang run forms". The "IoT connection" tab contains information about the IoT connection and the settings for Remote Service. In the "Gang Run Forms" tab, you configure whether new products are automatically created by certain MIS jobs in Cockpit and how gang run forms are adopted from the cloud. You can choose between the options "Automatically apply gang run form" and "Manually download gang run forms from the gang run app".

Versioning settings are saved, and two master versions of documents with the same page length can be created in Cockpit
Renamed level names in the "Create Versions with Page Lists" dialog are saved and used as default for new names.

With a new button in the "Create Versions with Page Lists" dialog, two master versions can now be defined for documents that contain the same number of pages.
→ For cases in which the versions are defined in Cockpit.

New option in the Preflight parameters to rename PDF file names so that ProductIDs are made part of the file name
In the "Product Workflow", added PDF files are always to be renamed so that the name of these files contains the ID of the product (ProductID). This was not possible for quota jobs since the PDF files were repeatedly overwritten by added files. Now, there is the new option "Rename PDF file to ProductID" in the Preflight step of the Qualify sequences.
If this option is enabled, renaming works correctly.

Qualify sequence - Normalizing - Pages/1ups - "Append blank pages up to a multiple of" option

Use this option to automatically insert blank pages into the processed PDF document. This is useful mainly for automatically processed print jobs.

Qualify_Normalisierung_Register_Seiten

Qualify sequence - preflight - images - "Resolution of full page images is below" parameter
This parameter is used to check the resolution of full page images, independently of the resolution check for smaller images. This makes it possible to have a higher resolution for full page images than for smaller images.

Qualify_Preflight_Register_Bilder

Qualify sequence - preflight - contents - "Blending color space is not Device CMYK" parameter
This parameter checks the correct color space for color blending.

Farbmischung ok

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Overprint - "Black line is knockout and below" parameter
This parameter checks whether texts with a small font size and narrow lines are defined as "knockout".

Ausstanzend

Prepare sequence: Preflight - Separations - Parameter: "Different color separations use the same color recipe"
If a print job contains several spot colors using the same color recipe, these colors will be printed identically. In this case, each of these spot colors result in a separate color separation and therefore a separate plate each. You can enable this check to prevent such unwanted color separations. You can then merge these color separations into a single spot color prior to printing or platemaking, for example with Prinect PDF Toolbox.

Qualify sequence - Normalizing - Pages/1ups - "Scale operators are present" parameter
Normally, the PDF format permits maximum page sizes of 200 x 200 inch (5.08 x 5.08 m). If sizes larger than the MediaBox are entered, Acrobat restricts this size to 200 x 200 inch. As of PDF 1.6 it is possible to also set larger sizes using what is known as "UserUnit" entries in the PDF.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Overprint - "Thin line uses more separations than" parameter
Fine lines that are defined in several color separations can result in color strips if there are register issues. That is why this parameter checks whether thin lines have more separations than set here (recommended: 1 color separation). In the "and is below" box, you can set as of which width lines will be checked as "thin lines".

Qualify sequence - Preflight - PDF/X & PDF/VT - "Percentage of reused objects in PDF/VT is less than" parameter
PDF/VT documents should have as high a proportion of reused image and form objects as possible (rectangles, circles, etc.) so that they can be printed efficiently.
This test parameter allows you to define a percentage of reusable elements that a PDF/VT file must contain at least to avoid triggering an error.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Actions - Preflight profiles as per ISO 19593- 1 (Ghent Working Group)
Preflight profiles as per ISO 19593-1 are now also offered for selection in addition to the HEIDELBERG Preflight profiles.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Advanced - "Rename PDF-file to Product-ID" option
If you enable this option in a "Product Workflow", i.e. in a workflow where products with a product identification number (ProductID) are edited, all edited PDF documents will be renamed so that the PDF file name contains the ProductID of the associated product. This renaming is feasible in the "Product Workflow". You may have to disable this option on an individual basis, for example for Quota jobs.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Colors- "Maximum area coverage on the page is above" parameter
Unlike the "Maximum area coverage in elements is above" parameter, which also checks invisible page components, this parameter additionally checks the visibility of page elements that may be restricted by overlaps and transparencies. If this check is enabled instead of the "Maximum area coverage in elements is above" parameter, any false alarms generated by checking the invisible elements can be avoided.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Advanced - Invariable correction values for the page size
In the "Advanced" area, you can now choose the "Corrections" options in the "Page Size" list box. In this list box, you can change the page size by fixed positive or negative correction values. Until now, only percentages could be specified. Using a fixed negative correction value, you can, for example reduce the page size in one direction when printing with a Labelfire digital press and thus compensate for the increase in page size that flexographic printing clichés can cause.

Qualify sequence - Preflight - Colors - "Contains rich CMYK Black" parameter
Some software apps like, for example, OneVision generate PDF files that can have K in color separations that normally should not have any K. This is known as "rich black".
This parameter checks whether such K parts are found in non-black separations.
If you enable "Convert Rich CMYK Black to K", any K is removed from non-black separations and

Qualify sequence: Automatic page assignment - inclusion of the delivery quantity
For rules referring to articles, e.g. "Article name and number followed by shape ID and name" you can now also specify a delimiter for the delivery quantity. If you set a delimiter, the delivery quantity is expected after the delimiter at the end of the file name. The delivery quantity is entered only for articles that had no delivery quantity defined so far or for new ones that were generated by automatic page assignment.

Prepare sequence: Color conversion - Advanced: Keep All Spot Colors Ignoring Job Settings
This option is intended for the case where the "spectral color management" for print output on Inkjet digital presses (Labelfire) is to be used. Until now, it was necessary to specify in detail in the "Colors" job settings which spot colors shall be mapped to process colors.

Qualify sequence: New hotfolder job or import job replaces an existing job that was already submitted to a digital press
In a Qualify sequence, when defining a hotfolder, you can select "Replace Existing Job" in the "When job number already exists" list box. If this option is enabled, new jobs that are created by the hotfolder mechanism with the same job number as an existing job replace the existing job. However, if the existing job was already submitted to a digital press, the job is blocked and cannot be replaced.
There is now the new option, "Replace existing job even if it is still active" When you select this option, existing jobs that were already submitted to a digital press will also be replaced by the new hotfolder job. You should give some thought to this option before selecting it.
Accordingly, you can now select "Replace existing job even if it is still active" from the "When job number already exists" list box in the "AutomaticJobImport" sequence. In this case as well, existing jobs that were already submitted to a digital press are also replaced by the imported job.

"Plates" Step: Warning if many identical plates are to be submitted
In the "Submit" dialog used to submit to an ImpositionOutput sequence, the box where you specified the number plates to make was named "Quantity". This could be confused with the number of sheets to print.
This box is now named "Plate Count", which is much easier to comprehend. If you type a large number in this box, submitting would cause many identical plates to be made.
In this case, an appropriate error message displays.

"Imposition" step: Materials - Printing Materials tab: different paper types for front and back
If the job is configured respectively, the table of the printing material properties also displays different paper types for front and back if applicable. Provided different paper types are used for front and back, appropriate calibrations (ICC profiles) must be available for each type.

"Detailed History Information" Window: New group with brief description
The right window section displays a brief description of the history item (e.g. of an error) and the respective ID.

Product job: In addition to the preview of the front, a preview of the back is displayed
The thumbnail view in the file system (Windows Explorer, Apple Finder) previously displayed thumbnails for the fronts.
Now, thumbnails of the backs are also displayed.

Preferences: "Take color definitions for new colors from color tables" option: Presettings are taken into account
Until now, the colors imported during an MIS or PPF import are given the color values of the color tables only if the imported colors do not have L*a*b* or CMYK values. Now the values from the color tables are also used for the colors in the imported jobs if the option "Take color definitions for new colors from color tables" is enabled in the Preferences.
If this option is disabled, the color values of the color tables are used for the colors of the imported jobs only if the imported colors do not have L*a*b* or CMYK values.

Colors and varnishes: X-Rite eXact colorimeter supported in the "Measure color" dialog
For the definition of new spot colors in the "Colors and Varnishes" area, the X-Rite eXact spectrophotometer, which comes with InPress Control, for example, can now be used with both USB connection and Bluetooth connection.

JDF Import: "Apply the name of the page list" Option
Some MIS systems (e.g. Multipress) are capable of linking document contents and versioning page lists.
If you enable this option in the "JDF Data Additions" tab, all PDF documents in such jobs will be automatically assigned to the respective matching versioning page list.

Rules for File and Folder Names: New rule types "Tool" and "Shape"
New rule types are required to automatically name shape and tool files. For this reason, the new and write-protected rule types "Shape" and "Tool" were added to the standard rule types.

Printing Materials and Substrates: Different paper types for front and back
Front and back of a printing material may have different printing properties, in particular in packaging printing. For this purpose, you can now choose a different paper type for front and back when setting up a printing material. Accordingly, you can define different settings for front and back for the "Type of Printing Material for Calibration" and "L*a*b*" parameters. To define only one paper type, only the parameter set for the front needs to be completed.
