Additional general device configuration for directly connected sheet-fed presses

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: The configuration step described below is only displayed if a machine of the "Sheet-fed press" device class is configured with the "Direct connection of the press" connection type.

device_config_02

Press selection (1)

Select the type of press that you wish to set up (as close a match as possible).

Control console (2)

Select the type of control station software for the press.

Serial number (3)

You can read the press serial number at the control console or directly at your press. It is required for the following functions::

For automatic import of inking characteristic curves from the press into the Prinect workflow or

to provide color data for analysis in Analyze Point.

Language (4)

This language selection applies to the display of operations (PDC messages) at the control station of the press.

Version (5)

Select the version of the control station software installed on the press.

Workplace ID (6)

In the Prinect system environment, each workplace is assigned a workplace ID. A workplace ID is a unique code in the Prinect environment that consists of a maximum of 6 digits. When configuring the press in the Device Assistant, a workplace ID is also assigned to the press.

This "Workplace ID" for the press must also be entered when configuring the data storage at the control station of the press.

Axis Control / Inpress Control / Inspection Control (7)

This option affects the configuration of presses that are equipped with an Axis Control, an Inpress Control or an Inspection Control color measuring system (does not apply to Image Control color measuring systems). If the "Enable import of color data" option is activated in these cases, the color data generated by the color measuring system are stored in the parameterized color data folder. The default folder is always "[Prinect server]\PTTransfer\PPF-Output\[device name]".

You must therefore configure the export of color data at the press control station. You will find details about this at the following points:

For Axis Control at the Prinect CP2000 Center: Configuring color data export on Prinect Press Center,

For Axis Control at the Prinect Press Center: Configuring color data export on Prinect Press Center,

For Inpress Control at the Prinect Press Center: How do I establish a connection between Prinect Integration and Prinect Inpress Control.

Click "Next" when all settings are made.

Number of printing units

In the next configuration step, you set up the properties of the press. Set the number of printing units. The "printing units" also include coating units, dryers and other units.

device_config_03

Confirm the setting with "OK". The "Set up printing units" configuration step opens.

Set up printing units

device_config_04

In this configuration step, you assign the appropriate function to the printing units. Enable the respective function if the press has a perfector, for example.

"New printing unit" button

This button allows you to add a new printing unit to the configuration, even if a smaller number of printing units was set in the previous dialog.

"Delete" options

By enabling the "Delete" option, you can remove individual printing units from the configuration.

"Refresh" button

After clicking on "Refresh", the deleted printing unit will no longer be displayed.

"Performance Values per Print Unit" button [Custom machine performance values]

Clicking on this button opens the "Additional Values for Setup" configuration step. For an exact calculation of the makeready time and waste, you can enter additional default values here that are added to the general performance values of the press.

device_config_04a

This is where you can enter additional makeready times and waste counts. These values are added up with each additional printing unit, i.e., they depend on the number of color units. This means that the more printing units there are, the larger the values that have to be entered. You can also specify a fixed number of waste copies as "Fixed continuous waste".

Once you have completed the configuration, click on "Apply".

After completing the "General" configuration step, click on "Next".
