Privacy Policy | Imprint | Prinect Know How | Prinect Release Notes HEIDELBERG supports a range of digital presses that can be connected online to Prinect Integration. In this context, "online connection" not only refers to the connection of a digital press for outputting print jobs but also for collecting production data in the Prinect Integration Manager and submitting this data to a connected MIS if available. In addition to the connection of HEIDELBERG digital presses, HEIDELBERG provides all machine manufacturers with a JDF/JMF interface for online connection. Machines that cannot be connected online can be connected to Prinect Integration via PDF file transfer or via a Data Terminal. You can find a list of the supported machines that can be connected online in: Supported Digital Presses). In principle, there are the following different connection types: •Online connection of digital presses from other manufacturers •Data Terminal Connection (Offline Connection) Connection Types for Digital Presses In the case of an online connection, the machine or the Digital Front End upstream of the press communicates directly with the Prinect server, usually via a network connection. In the Prinect workflow, the jobs are prepared (imposition, color management, etc.) and then sent to the press to be printed. The machine automatically reports back production data like quantities and status messages. Other production data like login and logout of the staff can be recorded manually in the user interface of the Digital Printing Terminal and used in the Prinect workflow (see screenshot below). See also Production data collection. All production data are finally visualized in Analyze Point. Online connection of digital presses from other manufacturers HEIDELBERG offers other machine manufacturers a JDF/JMF-based interface for connection to the Prinect workflow. This makes online connection also possible for machines that are not found in the list of supported machines. Machines using this interface can receive and report back the same data. The only difference is the way in which the connection is configured. See Configure the connection of third-party machines with JDF / JMF interface. All digital presses that cannot be connected online can be connected through a generic interface. With this connection type, the Prinect workflow saves the imposed PDF sheets to a dedicated folder the press can access. Other than with the online connection, the machine does not return any feedback regarding the machine status or the print process to the Prinect Workflow. This also means that the printing material of the press cannot be polled. Instead, a default group of printing materials is created automatically in the Prinect workflow after you have set up the press. This group can be edited manually in the Cockpit. See Printing Materials and substrates. Data Terminal Connection (Offline Connection) With this type of connection, there is no direct communication between Prinect Integration and the Machine. Communication is solely for manual production data collection and the transfer of these data to a connected MIS and/or Analyze Point. Usually, a third-party prepress system creates the job data and transfers the data to the machine.
