Offline Connection of a Press

Workflow Overview

The area coverage values for ink presetting on older HEIDELBERG presses can be provided using an offline connection. These data are transferred to the press in the form of a PPF+ output file.

The jobs are loaded from the "PrepressInterface (PPF)" data storage at the press. The presetting data are taken from a separate transfer folder.

Limitations of the offline connection compared to the online connection

In general, presses should always use an online connection if possible. This is the only way to ensure optimal integration. If an offline connection has to be used, the following limitations apply:

In the Prinect workflow, the printing process is complete once the PPF+ file has been generated.

Devices using an offline connection are not taken into account in Analyze Point and in the Scheduler, i.e., print processes are not analyzed and print jobs cannot be scheduled.

Actual value: If a third-party prepress system is connected upstream of the Prinect Workflow, the prepress system may send an updated PPF+ file to Prinect Press if changes are made to the Job settings. In this case, the PPF+ file that has already been sent to the press is not recalculated. This means that subsequent changes in the prepress system are not taken into account at the press, since the PPF+ file is not updated at the press.

Requirements on the printing press

Offline Connection to Prinect Integration is only possible with the following software modules:

The software module "Prinect Preset Link" (Prinect CP2000 Center as of software version V32.8)

The "Prinect Online Kit" software module.
