"Rendering" Option

In this context, "Rendering" refers to the preparation of document data for output to a connected imagesetter or for TIFF-B export.

"Device" Section

The name and type of the selected output device are displayed in the "Imagesetter" and "Type" boxes.

"Remove ProofColor/DieLine Colors" option

"DieLine" (or "ProofColor") colors are spot colors used by Prinect Signa Station in the marks layer, with which the page and sheet outlines are shown as lines. These lines are important only for proofing. They must be removed for imaging.

Objects defined as "ProofColor" or "DieLine" are not output in the proof if this option is enabled.

"Plate" group

This group displays the plate or film materials set up on the selected output device. The items of information are provided by the connected device. The material data are managed in the Master Data Store and read out from there if a device in a TIFF-B export configuration is connected to a Shooter workstation (e.g. Prinect Shooter).

In the Material name list box, you can select one of the materials set up in the respective Engine Manager.

The dimensions of the selected material display in the "Dimensions" boxes.

The "Status" box displays the status of the selected material. The following states can appear: "known", "available", "loaded" or "unknown".

"Press Profile" group

In the "Press Profile" box, you set a color profile for the output process or the printing press used. You can customize your printing process, e.g. to region-specific printing processes (SWOP, EURO, etc.), by selecting a suitable profile. The selection of a print profile is part of Prinect Color Management and matches color output and output device. You can find details on Prinect Color Management in: "Color Conversion" option.

You can assign the press profiles to different target color spaces depending on your output:

​•​Normally you use a "DeviceCMYK" profile for presses.

​•​You can use a "DeviceGray" profile for a black-and-white output.

Click "Browse..." to open a dialog where you can select a suitable press profile.

Note: In "Administration" > "Resources" > "ICC Profiles" you can see an overview of all the ICC profiles available in the Prinect system. You can also import new profiles, create new profile folders, delete profiles, etc. there. The ICC profiles are filed in "SysConfig\Resources\ICC Profiles". "SysConfig" is the shared configuration folder on the Prinect server.

"Use Press Profile from Job Settings, if Available" option

An output press profile that was assigned to the job in the job settings in the "Printing Process" tab is used if this option is enabled.

In the job settings you can check in "Consistency Check" in the "Printing Process" tab whether a press profile that you will assign to the job is suitable for this purpose.

​•​If there is a green dot in front of the selected press profile, you can process the job with the selected press profile.

​•​There is a conflict if there is a yellow triangle before the selected press profile. If this is the case, you should use a different press profile.

"Use Embedded PDF/X Output Intent, if Available, as Press Profile" option

​•​Prinect Production behaves as follows if this option is enabled:

When a PDF/X file with an embedded ICC profile as its Output Intent is processed, the embedded press profile is used for color space conversion. The press profile set in "Press Profile" is ignored.

If there is no Output Intent, the ICC profile set in "Press Profile" will be used.

​•​The press profile set in "Press Profile" is used for color space conversion if this option is not checked.

Any embedded PDF/X Output Intent will not be used for color space conversion during output.

If you wish to process jobs in the Prinect workflow using the PDF/X policies, you must always enable this option.

"Print" group

"ISO Paper Grade" list box

In Prinect Signa Station, for example, you can define printing material names that are not known in Prinect Production. These names are freely definable and do not have to include full details about the ISO paper grade. However, details about the ISO paper grade are needed if you wish to use process calibration when you output jobs. When you select an item in the "ISO Paper grade" list, the printing material matching the selected paper type will be used for process calibration. The original printing material name is then ignored for process calibration but it is written, for example, to the CIP3 parameters so that it can be assigned to the printing material at the press.

"Paper stretch compensation" option

Prerequisite: This Option is only enabled if there is at least one paper stretch compensation template in the system.

If you have large formats, it may be necessary to compensate paper stretch during printing. To do this, you can define and save paper stretch compensation templates in "Administration > Paper Stretch Compensation" (see Paper Stretch Compensation).

These list boxes let you select such a paper stretch compensation template separately for the front and the back sides. This template is applied to all jobs that are edited with this PageOutput sequence.

Note: In job processing, the order of processed colors is based on the order of the printing units defined in the paper stretch compensation template:

​•​The last parameter set in the template is used for all subsequent job colors if there are less printing units in the template than colors in the job.

​•​If the job has less colors than printing units set in the template, then the surplus printing units are ignored.

"Color Handling" group

"Overprint Emulation" option

This option influences the overprint behavior of spot colors that are converted to CMYK for output.

Overprint of the original spot colors is simulated for the spot colors converted to CMYK if this option is enabled. There is no overprint of the spot colors following conversion if this option is not enabled.

"Disable Color Management for Marks" option

This option applies to offset printing output in multicolor color spaces (e.g. Hexachrome). When output in multicolor color spaces, the print marks should usually not be changed.

If this option is not enabled, the marks will be excluded from color management by adding the color HDMNoCMMMaskColor. This option should be disabled if the print marks are merged with the rest of the page content.

If there are separate marks in the input documents, e.g. in layouts created with Prinect Signa Station, these separate marks can be excluded from color management by enabling this option.

"Disable Color Management for pure CMYK Objects" option

This option applies to offset printing output in multicolor color spaces (e.g. Hexachrome). Usually, the definitions of the CMYK colors correspond to the definitions of input colors. If this option is enabled, additional colors of the multicolor color spaces, such as orange, green, and violet, are used only for spot color conversion.

Caution: If partially overprinting spot colors or overprinting color gradients occur in the input documents, there may be flaws in the CMYK representation when this function is enabled, because different color management processes are applied to CMYK objects. You must not enable this option in such cases.

"Complexity Handling" section

Option "Cancel job if the following interpreting time for a page is exceeded"

By enabling this option, you can prevent individual jobs with very complex content from blocking the entire job processing of the Prinect Production server. If you enable this option, job processing is aborted if the processing time for a page exceeds the specified time span.
