"Imposition" option

In "Imposition", you specify how you would like your PDF output, in other words, splitting up the contents into different documents, the dimensions of the target format, etc.

"PDF Output" group

IconNoteNote: Some options are dimmed in this group- Only the options that can be used will be described below.

"PDF Output" list box

You can select between the following options in this list box:

"Front and Back in Separate Files"

Separate PDF files are generated for the front and the back pages of each edited sheet if you enable this option.

"Front and Back in one File:"

A joint PDF file is generated for the front and back pages of each sheet if you enable this option.

"Entire Layout in One File"

The entire layout is saved to one PDF file if you enable this option.

IconNoteNote: You must select "Front and Back in One File" if you wish to use the generated PDF documents in a CIP3 workflow.

"Entire Sheets" list box

If this is set, your output file will contain "entire sheets", i.e. not only will they have the pages but also their parameters such as punches, marks, etc. All the fronts and backs are also contained in the output files, for example, there will be 16 pages in an 8up layout.

"Clip to Paper Area" option

The size of the created PDF documents is confined to the trim box if you enable this option.

"Target size" option

Use this option to define the paper size you will use for output. You can select the paper size either using the format name (e.g. "A4") or its default dimensions (width x height) in the selected unit of measure (e.g. 21.0 x 29.7 cm). The dimensions are matched automatically if you select a different unit of measure.

Type in the dimensions you want in the box for page dimensions if you need a size that deviates from the suggested dimensions. The input in the list box with the format names switches to "Custom Size" if you now change your input focus, e.g. by hitting the Tab key.

In the list box for scaling or alignment you can choose from the following settings:

Scaling

The document pages are fit to the target size by scaling them to the full target size. This can result in distortions if the width-to-height ratio of the target size does not match the width-to-height ratio of the original pages.

Proportional Scaling

The document pages are fit to the target size by scaling them proportionally to the target size, that is by keeping the width-to-height ratio. You can define the position of the documents in the target documents using the "Align" and "Shift Front/Back" parameters.

Align

The document pages are not scaled but placed in the document in their original size. You can define the position of the documents in the target documents using the "Align" and "Shift Front/Back" parameters.

Use "Align" to define how the document pages will be positioned on the target size: Bottom/Left, Center, Top/Right.

Use the values for Shift Front/Back to define an offset in vertical and horizontal direction for the front and back pages on the target size. The reference point in each case is the bottom left corner of the target size. In other words, an input of 0.0 x 0.0 will place the pages in the bottom left corner.

"Rotate Back by 180° for Tumble" option

You can select this option only if "Front and Back in One File" or "Entire Layout in One File" is enabled in "PDF Output". The backs are rotated by 180° if you enable "Rotate Back by 180° for Tumble".

"Add Report as PDF Comment" option

A list of all the settings in the "SendBookletPDF" sequence is added as a PDF annotation (comment) to the edited documents if you check this option.

"If layers have transparency elements" parameter

Use this setting to define how job processing will run if the edited documents have layers with transparency elements. There may be a difference between your proof and your final output (imagesetter > press) if transparency elements are present.

You can select the following settings in the list box:

b_cancel_small

Cancel with error:

Further processing of the document is aborted and an error message issued.

b_warn_small

Continue with warning:

Processing continues; an alert message displays.

b_ignore_small

Ignore and continue:

Processing continues without any message, and the check criterion is ignored. Accordingly, any existing additional settings cannot be used if "Ignore" is selected.

"Maximum Size per File" parameter

In this box, you define the maximum size of a file that will be sent as an e-mail attachment. The PDF file compiled with "SendBookletPDF" is split up into a number of smaller files, with each file not exceeding the set size, if the maximum size is exceeded and if "Warning" is set as a rule. Each of these files is sent in a separate e-mail. To find out the maximum file size, you can, for example, ask the customer concerned which is the maximum size for an attached file that their mail server can handle.

It is advisable to specify a maximum file size if you are working with the standard approval because the files are attached as e-mails.

IconNoteNote: You should not set a maximum file size if you are working with Prinect Portal Services. In this case, select "Ignore" in the "When Maximum Size is Exceeded" list box. In a Portal Services workflow, splitting files is not desired except maybe for extremely large files. This would only complicate the approval process. It is also not necessary to restrict the file size because the assembled PDF files are filed on a FTP server (File Transfer Protocol). Only the URL address (Uniform Resource Locator) of the file on the FTP server is sent by e-mail to notify the customer.

"When Maximum Size is Exceeded" list box

A file is split if the maximum size is exceeded. Whenever it is not possible to downsize to the maximum size because, for example, there is a large image on the page, an error mechanism with the following rules becomes active:

b_cancel_small

Cancel with error:

The job is canceled and an error message issued. In this case it is always canceled when the set maximum file size is exceeded.

b_warn_small

Continue with warning:

The assembled documents are split up into a number of smaller documents when the maximum file size is exceeded; a warning is issued in this case.

Pages with very large, high-resolution images may be larger than the set maximum size. In this case, either a file is created and processing continues after a warning or processing is canceled with an error.

b_ignore_small

Ignore and continue:

The maximum file size is not checked. All documents are processed regardless of the file size.

An e-mail is sent for each file. Remember: If the e-mail attachment is bigger than the mail server of the recipient allows, sending the e-mail is canceled by the mail service of the recipient.

"Acceptance Form" option

A special "Acceptance Form" is attached as a PDF document to each e-mail to make it possible for customers to send comments in a structured form to the operator of the Prinect Cockpit about documents they checked. The customer fills out this form and sends it back to the mail service of the Prinect system. Select one of the shipped documents "Abnahmeformular.pdf" (German) or "AcceptanceForm.pdf" or your own text document. You can open the documents with "Browse".
