"Destination" option

When a print job is processed by a sequence in the Prinect workflow not only do you have the processed PDF documents or pages that generally run through the various sequences or are output but you also have additional data that are created or copies of the processed data that are saved. In "Destination", you define how and where these data will be saved. This means that you can save, for example, the PDF documents processed by a sequence also as a side result. After the whole Prinect workflow has finished, you can then understand how a sequence processed the job data.

You can specify the paths for the output files in the various Destination setups. In the path name box, the default setting for the output folder is "$Template". This is a variable that creates a folder with the name of the current ImpositionProof sequence. The folder is created the moment a new job is created and this ImpositionProof sequence is assigned to the new job.

"Output is" list box

This is where you define whether the data created as the "result" will be saved as an "intermediate result", as a "saved result", as a "saved side result" or as a "temporary side result". Data that are saved as a "Temporary side result" can be overwritten by subsequent sequences.

IconNoteNote: Not all result types mentioned here are available in all sequence types.

The various result types differ as follows:

intermediate result

The resulting data are saved but are processed by subsequent sequences and are released for overwriting after they are sent to the next processing stage.

Saved result

The resulting data are not overwritten by subsequent sequences, i.e. these data are filed as the "saved result".

The two result types "saved result" and "intermediate result" are part of the "main track" of a Prinect workflow. In addition to the "main track" of a workflow, you can file the resulting data also in a "side track" as a "side result". This can be a good idea, for example, if you use two different "ImpositionProof" sequences for processing a job; for example, one sequence with an enabled "InRIP Trapping" option and one without. If you process the pages of a print job first with a disabled trapping option, you can file the resulting data of this sequence as the "main track", e.g. as the "saved result". You can file the resulting data that are created by the ImpositionProof sequence with an enabled trapping option, for example, as a "saved side result". In this way, you can, for example, compare the influence of single functions with each other, in the example of the trapping function, or use the data for different output purposes.

IconNoteNote: In the workflow, it is not possible to combine a "side track" sequence with a "main track" sequence of the same kind.

Saved side result

The resulting data are saved as a "side result" and are not overwritten by subsequent sequences, i.e. these data are filed as the "saved result".

Temporary side result

The resulting data are saved as a side result but are processed by subsequent sequences and are released for overwriting after they are sent to the next processing stage.

"Imposition Softproofs" group

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: This option is available only if a softproof device is set as the output device.

"Store" list box

You can choose between the following options:

Job internal

The generated proof documents are filed below the "PTJobs\Jobs" folder. The pages or documents are used within the workflow.

Job external

You can select a folder for filing the generated documents in the file system of the Prinect server or you can create a new folder. This can be the hotfolder of a third-party product, for example, in order to enable further processing in an automatic workflow. You can enter the path and name of the folder manually or use the "Browse" function to locate the desired folder.

"Content Check Preview for Inspection Control" group

In this group, you set where the soft proof files that are needed solely for Inspection Control will be filed. See "Content Check Preview for Inspection Control" option.

"Store" list box

You can choose between the following options:

Job internal

The generated Inspection Control proof documents are filed below the "InspectionControl" folder.

Job external

You can select a folder for filing the generated Inspection Control proof documents in the file system of the Prinect server or you can create a new folder. You can enter the path and name of the folder manually or use the "Browse" function to locate the desired folder.

"Name Rule" list box

This is where you can select a rule for naming the output files of this sequence. The use of name rules lets you, for example, use certain data of the print job in the file names. The name rules that were defined in "Administration > Resources > Rules for File and Folder Names" display in the list. See Rules for File and Folder Names.
