"Preflight" Option

In this step, the PDF documents are examined for problems that can occur during the further course of the process. When you configure the Preflighter, you can define for each property in the document what will happen if the set parameters are deviated from. For example, a warning or an error message can be issued and/or an action triggered that will remedy the error or stop processing. For example, you can define that processing of the document will be canceled and an error message will appear if fonts are missing.

When configured correctly, the Preflighter gives a high level of production reliability to the entire Prinect workflow because problems can be detected at an early stage and, where applicable, eliminated automatically or by regenerating the incoming documents.

The Preflighter can use different sets of parameters to check the documents:

​•​Parameters that can be set separately in "Preflight" in the "Document", "Pages/1ups", "Images", "Fonts", "Font type", "Colors", "Separations", "Contents" and "Complexity" tabs.

​•​Parameters that were defined beforehand in a "HEIDELBERG Preflight Profile". Some HEIDELBERG Preflight Profiles are installed with Prinect Production. You can enable such a profile and set the defaults in the tabs named above. If necessary, you can customize single parameters.

​•​Parameters that are defined in a PitStop profile and in a PitStop action list. You can enable such a profile in the "Actions" tab. The PitStop profile settings cannot be seen in the preflight parameters of the Cockpit user interface and can differ from the HEIDELBERG preflight options.

The settings in the "Document", "Pages/1ups", "Images", "Fonts", "Font type", "Colors", "Separations", "Contents" and "Complexity" tabs are sufficient for most cases. You can use profiles that you created with Enfocus "PitStop Professional" or prefer making preflight settings with PitStop Professional in the Prinect workflow. Some PitStop profiles are installed with Prinect Production and you can use them, but you need the PitStop software to get information about the single parameters of these profiles.

Preflight reports are also created with the "Preflight" option, and you can customize the data like page rotation, matching the page size or removing any traps.

This is where you can select which Preflight engine will be used for checking the documents. If you set "AllPreflightImports", the engine that is not busy at that moment or the one that is available next for processing will be selected.
