You can start a CAD request in this window. You must enter a shape ID, the design code, box dimensions, a material and a DesignCreation sequence template for this.
You can also import an existing shape file. Various file formats are possible in this case, e.g. PDF, EPS, DXF, etc.
"Shape ID" box
This is where you enter a shape ID if this was not automatically entered by the MIS.
"Shape Name" box
This is where you enter a shape name if this was not automatically entered by the MIS.
"Shape File" option
After you select the "Shape File" option, you can enter the name of the shape file to be imported (incl. path) in the text box. If you do not know the path of the shape file in the file system, you can use the "Select" button to look for it.
"Select" button
Click "Select" to open a window where you can find and select the shape file you want from various locations (paths in the file system).
This is where you enter the construction code (from the ECMA, FEFCO or EngView catalog).
"Select" button
Click "Select" to open a dialog where you can select the design code you want (from the ECMA, FEFCO or EngView catalog).
"Box dimensions" section
Specify the inner dimensions of the box here.
"Width/Length/Height" parameters
This is where you enter the width, length and height of the box. You can change the unit of measure in the list boxes following the dimensions. The dimensions are converted automatically when you change the unit of measure.
"Material" section
You select the material in this group. You can either type all of the material parameters (brand, article number) or just type the material quality.
"Brand" option
This displays the printing material brand. To edit or select, you must select the "Brand" option and click the "Change" button.
"Change" button
The "Choose Printing material" dialog displays. Select the type of printing material you want from the list. After you confirm your choice, the selected printing material displays in "Brand". The related article number is also entered automatically in "Article Number".
"Article Number" box
This displays the article number of the (printing material) brand you selected.
"Quality" option
In packaging, there are set terms for material quality.
Select the "Quality" option and enter the material quality in the box if no exact information about the material is available (e.g. GGZ, GZ GUZ, etc.). You can also click the "Select" button and select one of the available material qualities in the dialog.
In this case, the CAD software must decide which material matching the specified quality can best be used to produce the packaging with the least amount of waste.
"Select" button
The window where you select the material quality opens. After you confirm your choice, the selected material quality displays in "Quality".
"No default" option
Enable this option if no specific material is to be specified.
Note: If no material is specified for the CAD system (Package Designer), the CAD system is free to choose the material/sheet size it will use for optimization of the layout (die tool). For this purpose, the presses (and their maximum sheet size) that are available in the print shop are stored in the CAD system. The default material filed in Package Designer is used if there are no defaults.
"Tool ID" box
Enter the tool ID in this box. This item is also used as a name for the layout.
"Sequence Template" list box
This is where you select the desired "DesignCreation" sequence template for processing the CAD data.
In "Administration" > "Templates" > "Sequence templates" > "DesignCreation", you can create a maximum of four variants of this sequence type. See also "DesignCreation" Sequence Template.
As a rule, these sequences are available for manual and automatic job processing.
Manual sequences (Manu1Up and ManuNUp) assume that the CAD request was started in Cockpit and will be edited manually by a user.
The Package Designer server automatically creates the desired files (shape or layout) for automated processing (Auto1Up and AutoNUp).
