"Create New Layout" Window

Open this window by clicking on the "Create" button in the "Imposition" step. You can define the interactive creation of a new layout with Prinect Signa Station in this window.

Layout Name

Enter the name of the new layout in this box.

You cannot use this text box (it has a default) if you selected an existing layout or an MIS parameter set.

"Create New Page List" option

A new page list is created for the new layout if you select this option. The "Page List Name" text box is operable. Any page lists that already exist in the job are retained.

If this option is not activated, no new page list will be created. You can link the new layout to existing page lists. Page lists that are available but not yet assigned to a layout display in "Assign Page List(s)".

Page List Name

You can enter a name for the new page list in this box if "Create New Page List" is enabled. Then a page list with this name is generated automatically and assigned to the layout after the layout is created at Prinect Signa Station.

Assign Page List(s)

If the "Create new page list" option is disabled, this area becomes editable and you can assign existing page lists to the layout here.

The existing page lists are listed as follows for you to set as you need:

​•​The "Show assigned page lists of other layouts and levels" option is not enabled:

Only all page lists that have not yet been assigned to a layout are displayed.

​•​The "Show assigned page lists of other layouts and levels" option is enabled:

All page lists are displayed, regardless of whether they are already assigned to a layout or not.

You can add page lists to the layout using "Add". The added page lists are displayed in the right-hand area. Similarly, you can use "Remove" to remove individual page lists from the combination.

Remember the following items when doing so:

​•​The page list positions (page placeholders of the page lists) must match the layout positions (page placeholders of the layouts), especially if you select multiple page lists. You cannot assign two page list positions to one layout position.

​•​Versioning: If you work with versioning, you can assign a matching set of page lists to the layout per version. This means that for each version you can assign a page list position to a layout position.

"Show assigned page lists of other layouts and levels" option

When this option is enabled, "Assign Page List(s)" shows you all the page lists, irrespective of whether they are assigned to a layout or not. This also applies in particular to versioned jobs (version layouts and levels).

"Proof Layout" option

The new layout is created as a proof layout if you select this option.

A proof layout is created exclusively for proof output and does not appear in the sheet view or in the separation view. Other than this, a proof layout is like a "normal" layout. It can be linked only to a proof sequence but not to a production output sequence.

Assign Product

If products or product parts are defined for the current job, you can assign one of these products or product parts to the new layout. If you assign a product part structure to the layout here and enable the option "Create product parts with Prinect Signa Station", product part layouts are created by Prinect Signa Station – depending on the definition in the job.

"Create product parts with Prinect Signa Station" option

If this option is enabled and a product part structure is assigned to the layout ("Assign product"), the layout generation in the Prinect Signa Station is configured in such a way that the layout is generated with product parts. To do this, Prinect Production transfers the product part structure to Prinect Signa Station.

This option is enabled by default for the "Book", "Book Block", "Book Casing" or "Endsheets" product or layout types. This option is not enabled by default for other layout types. The system makes a note of this setting and keeps it the next time the dialog opens.

"Open the layout assignment view after the layout is created" option

When this option is enabled, the layout assignment view displays immediately after you confirm the dialog with "OK". In the assignment display, you can assign the document pages to the page positions in the page lists using drag-and-drop. See Assignment Presentation.

"Open the Planning Assistant as needed" option

When this option is enabled, the Planning Assistant opens immediately after you confirm the dialog with "OK". See Planning Assistant.
