"Wake up" a computer in sleep mode for an update
Computers that are to be updated may sometimes be in sleep mode. If the "Wake on LAN" function is enabled on the affected computers, the PMC will wake them up or keep them awake for the duration of the update process if applicable. To do this, the computers in question must support the "WOL" function and be configured accordingly.
The "WOL" function is not enabled by default for newly shipped computers.
Note: The "WOL" feature is also available for Apple Mac computers, but MacBooks must not be closed.
You can enable the "Wake on LAN" feature in the BIOS of the computer in question.
If the computer has both a LAN and a WLAN network connection (notebook), you must enable the WOL feature in the BIOS for LAN and also for WLAN connections.
To check the WOL feature, see the respective Windows settings in the Network Adapter Properties.
If an update is not offered for a computer, this usually means that the computer is already up-to-date. For security reasons, you can check in the footer of the PMC web UI whether the HEIDELBERG Connection is working correctly. See HEIDELBERG Connection. If the HEIDELBERG Connection had to be repaired, click "Refresh view" to check for available updates.
