Mouse and Keyboard Shortcuts

The z button is used on the Macintosh instead of the "ALT" key.

Editing the path with the Path Editor

Applies to the Object Editor, the Coating Editor and the Trap Editor.

You can also find an overview of the options for editing a path when you right-click the path object in the edit mode and select "Quick Start Guide" in the context menu.

 

How to create a path:

(Object Editor and Coating Editor)

Right-click the PDF document and select "Create Path" in the context menu. "Create Path is active..." displays in the message pane.

You create new points on the path with a mouse click.

To close the path, double-click the last or first point on the path. Then right-click the path object and select "Apply" in the context menu to apply the current action (e.g. "Varnish" in the Coating Editor) to the path object. Alternatively, you can also use the Enter key. This closes the path and the action is applied immediately.

To cancel creating a path, you can select "Cancel" in the context menu or hit the Esc key.

If there are no paths or points so far, this sets the starting point for a new path.

 

If you have a selected open path, then this point is added to the end and selected. It does not matter how many or which points on the open path are selected.

ALT + click

This sets the starting point for a new additional path.

SHIFT + click

If you also press the SHIFT key while setting a point, the new points are automat­ically aligned horizontally or vertically to the preceding point.

Double click

If you hit the starting or end point of an open path, then this path closes.

Right-click + "Apply"

Runs the function (e.g. coating).

Enter

The open path is closed and the function run.

ESC

Cancels creation of the path.

 

How to edit a path:

(Object Editor and Coating Editor)

Right-click the object and select "Edit Path" in the context menu. "Edit Path is active..." displays in the message pane.

 

(Trap Editor)

Select the trap and click Icon_Edit_Path_Icon.png in the "Modify" tab. See Change the trap path.

 

Selecting points on the path:

Click on a point

Deselects all other points on the trap path and selects the one you clicked.

Click on a path

Selects all the points on the path.

SHIFT + click on a point

The point is added to the selection. All points selected so far will remain selected.

Selects all the trap path points within the rubberbanded box.

 

SHIFT + click + drag holding down
mouse button

 

All points inside the rubberbanded box will be selected additionally. All points selected so far will remain selected.

 

Modifying paths:

For Macintosh users: z button instead of the ALT key

If the click starts on a selected point, all points selected so far will be moved.

 

If the click starts on an unselected point, all points will be deselected and only this point is selected and moved.

Arrow Keys

You can move the selected points using the arrow keys.

ALT + (SHIFT) + click on a point

The point is changed to a curved point (ALT + SHIFT) or a corner point (ALT).

ALT + (SHIFT) + click on a path

An additional corner point (ALT) or a curved point (ALT + SHIFT) is inserted at this position.

Del

Deletes the selected points on the path. You can also do this with "Delete" in the context menu.

Coating Editor

Only the area within the rubberband is varnished. All other hit objects are ignored.
