"Automatic Unstructured Layout Recovery"

When you import drawings in file formats not specific to packaging printing, it may happen that the layout drawings do not appear as separate 1ups but as unstructured groups of individual objects such as lines, arcs, etc. File formats not supporting structured layouts are, for example DXF, EPS, PDF, and AI.

You can recover unstructured layout objects and convert them to standard 1ups. The program automates the recovery by detecting closed shapes and converting them to 1ups. You can draw the objects required for such shapes if the layout drawing does not contain any closed shapes.

Click the "Unstructured Layout Recovery" button in the toolbar to launch the wizard.

The wizard guides you through the recovery process in four steps:

First step: "Unstructured Layout"

Second Step: "Shape proposals"

Third Step: "Shape"

Fourth Step: "Create Layout"

These steps feature the following controls:

First step: "Unstructured Layout"

Choose the desired drawing in the "Unstructured Layout" list box and click "Next" if your project contains several drawings.

Second Step: "Shape proposals"

In this step, Prinect Signa Station Packaging Pro & Label Pro hatches the areas that are recognized as having possible 1ups. Different colors are used to hatch the different 1ups. You can add and remove 1ups by clicking the left mouse button on the hatched areas.

Click the "Manual" button if you notice that the shapes are not closed and for this reason cannot be selected as 1ups. The 1up tab opens, and you can edit your drawing as desired. Then restart the "Automatic Unstructured Layout Recovery" dialog.

Third Step: "Shape"

In this step, Prinect Signa Station Packaging Pro & Label Pro displays a list with all detected 1ups. You can rename the 1ups or replace them with another 1up from the list box.

"Align part rotation"

This lets you correct the alignment of the 1up.

1.Click the button. A white frame indicates that the button is active.

2.Click a line in the 1up that you want to be parallel to the X-axis or Y-axis of the coordinate system (represented by a dashed gray line). The line turns yellow.

3.Now click the dashed X-axis or Y-axis. The 1up is aligned accordingly.

Table

Shape Id

Prinect Signa Station Packaging Pro & Label Pro automatically assigns the created 1up a Shape ID to tell it apart from the others. This field is non-editable.

Shape Substitution

This list box lets you swap the selected 1up for different existing 1ups or exclude it from layout creation.

Click the respective cell and choose any of the following in the listbox:

Choose "No substitute" if the 1up is not to be substituted.

Choose "Ignore 1up" if you want to exclude the 1up from the layout generation.

Choose "Shape <x>" if you want to swap the 1up shape with Shape <x>.

Shape Name

This is where you can change the shape name.

Rotation

You can rotate the 1up by specifying an angle.

Fourth Step: "Create Layout"

The layout is created in the last step of the wizard. You can also add the unrecognized objects to the layout at this point.

Click "Finish" when you have defined all your settings in the wizard. The program makes changes to the "Layout" tab and creates one or several "1up" tabs.

Back to Tool Bar in the "Layout" tab.
