Prinect Signa Station Server

Notes on the Prinect Signa Station Server Option

Prinect Signa Station Server and Signa Station are software basic packages for using functions of the Signa Station imposition software in conjunction with the Integration Manager. These packages that you can purchase as an option require a license.

Prinect Signa Station Server is an engine controlled from the Cockpit without its own user interface that runs the Signa Station functions in the background. In this way, many functions of Signa Station can be used for standard jobs, without the Cockpit user having to work interactively with Signa Station. The Prinect Signa Station Server automatically puts together the layout in the background during a JDF import from the MIS.

With the Signa Station Gang Server, you can schedule various tasks that then automatically create ganging optimization layouts. These time-controlled tasks are processed accordingly by the Signa Station Gang Server. In this process, the set gang pool is scanned by certain criteria (e.g. paper, delivery date) and if paper utilization is satisfactory and production costs are low, the Signa Station Gang Server automatically creates a gang run form that is then used to create a new job in the Integration Manager. As an alternative, the Signa Station Gang Server can be used without a gang pool with Business Manager to make optimization data available to it.

This requires the "Gang & Sheet Optimizer" license in addition to the Prinect Signa Station Server.

The Prinect Signa Station Server and/or Signa Station Gang Server are installed together with a fully operational Signa Station on the Prinect server. After installation, this Signa Station starts by force once to configure the server. The preferences of both are synchronized. This means that you set up the preferences on Signa Station and these preferences are also automatically applied to the Prinect Signa Station Server. In this process, you must set the paths to the default directories in the Preferences.

The "General > Use Global Settings..." option is enabled automatically by the Prinect Signa Station Server. If other interactive Signa Stations are connected to the server, you can either work with separate systems or set the default directories in each system and enable "Use Global Settings" so that all the systems use uniform settings.

Normally, the interactive Signa Station is not used on the server. In the case of extremely powerful servers, it is possible, however, to also use Signa Station interactively on the Prinect server.

You will find details about the configuration of the Prinect Signa Station Server and the settings required in Cockpit in the Prinect Integration documentation.

You can run several instances of the Prinect Signa Station Server (a maximum of 4) on one server. The prerequisite is that there is a license for each of the instances, and that there is sufficient RAM for parallel starting (64 GB for the second, 128 GB for the third/fourth Prinect Signa Station Server).
