Users (User Administration)
You will find the user administration in Administration > "Users" section.
Note: You can see and operate the "User" section only if the user logged in to the Cockpit has the appropriate access permissions.
Note: With its components – the Integration Manager, the Prinect Pressroom Manager and the Prinect Postpress Manager – the Prinect Manager represents the Prinect Workflow variant with the highest integration level. For reasons of clarity, only the term Prinect Manager will be used in the following. User administration is identical in all Prinect Managers.
The Prinect Manager has a user administration of its own that is independent of the PC's user administration. This user administration has nothing to do with the user administration in the "Active Directory" of a Windows domain or in a local PC. It can, however, be useful to use the same user names and passwords in the user management of the Prinect Manager as in your operating system environment.
As a rule, the user data of the Prinect Manager is saved and managed in the master data store (MDS). All Prinect applications which are connected to the master data store are therefore available to all users.
The "User" section has the following tabs:
Generally recommended procedure for allocating permissions
When the Prinect Manager is started for the first time following installation, you should log on as "Administrator". You then have the right to create users and assign permissions.
•How do I create a new permissions group?
•How do I delete a permissions group?
•How do I assign a user to a permissions group?
You should proceed as follows when allocating permissions:
1.First create all permissions groups which you require in addition to the preset permissions groups.
2.Assign permissions to every user already set up by assigning him to the corresponding permissions groups. He is then given the permissions of every group he is member of.
3.You should assign or revoke individual permissions only after having allocated permissions to a user by assigning him to a permissions groups.
Note: Assigning individual permissions is done in the Permissions tab.
