"Destination" Option

When a print job is processed by a sequence in the Prinect workflow, not only do you have the processed PDF documents or pages that generally run through the various sequences or are output but you also have additional data that are created or copies of the processed data that are saved. In "Destination", you define how and where these data will be saved. This means that you can save, for example, the PDF documents processed by a sequence also as a side result. After the whole Prinect workflow has finished, you can then understand how a sequence processed the job data.

You can specify the paths for the output files in the various Destination setups. In the path name box, the default setting for the output folder is "$Template". This is a variable that creates a folder with the name of the current PageOutput sequence. The folder is created the moment a new job is created and this PageOutput sequence is assigned to the new job.

"Output is" list box

This is where you define whether the data created as the "result" will be saved as an "intermediate result" or as a "temporary side result". Data that are saved as a "Temporary side result" can be overwritten by subsequent sequences.

The various result types differ as follows:

intermediate result

The resulting data are saved but are processed by subsequent sequences and are released for overwriting after they are sent to the next processing stage.

Temporary side result

The resulting data are saved as a side result but are processed by subsequent sequences and are released for overwriting after they are sent to the next processing stage.

"Imposition Output to File" group

IconPrerequisite02312.jpg

Prerequisite: This group is enabled only if "Default TIFF-B Export" is selected as the output device in the "on" list box. No data are generated in the folder for page output files if you selected an imagesetter that is directly connected to the Prinect Renderer.

In this group you define where the Tiff-B files that were created with a "Tiff-B export output device" will be filed.

We recommend that you set up a folder especially for the TIFF-B data on the Prinect server or on the computer that is processing the TIFF-B data (e.g. Prinect Shooter). This folder must be shared. Since TIFF-B files are generally very large, make sure that this folder is located on a drive with enough free memory.

"Store" list box

You can choose between the following options:

Job internal

The generated TIFF-B files are filed below the "PTJobs\Jobs" folder.

Job external

You can select a folder for filing the generated files in the file system of the Prinect server or you can create a new folder. This can be a hot folder of a Prinect Shooter, for example, in order to enable further processing in an automated workflow. You can enter the path and name of the folder manually or use the "Browse" function to locate the desired folder.

"Name Rule" list box

This is where you can select a rule for naming the output files of this sequence. The use of name rules lets you, for example, use certain data of the print job in the file names. The name rules that were defined in "Administration > Resources > Rules for File and Folder Names" display in the list (see Rules for File and Folder Names).

"Halftone Soft Proof" group

IconPrerequisite02315.jpg

Prerequisite: You can use this option only if "Halftone Soft Proof" is enabled in the PageOutput sequence.

In this group you define where the halftone softproof files that were created in the "Halftone Softproof" step will be filed.

The generated halftone soft proof files are filed below the "PTJobs\Jobs" folder on the Prinect server if you select "Job internal" in the "Store" list box.

If you set "Job external", you can select a folder for filing the created soft proof files in the file system of the Prinect server or on another computer in the network environment or you can create a new folder. You can enter the path and name of the folder manually or use the "Browse" function to locate the desired folder.

"Sheet Preview" group

IconPrerequisite02318.jpg

Prerequisite: You can use this option only if "Sheet Preview Generation" is enabled in the PageOutput sequence.

In this group you define where the sheet preview files that were created with the "Sheet Preview Generation" option will be filed. Define your settings as described in "Halftone Soft Proof" group.

"CopyPDF" Sequence Template

The "CopyPDF" sequence lets you copy a PDF document or selected pages of a document from the Prinect workflow and file them in a folder of your choice in the file system. You can select the target folder to be within the job so that the copied pages or documents remain within the job context or you can select the target folder to be outside the job context.

To copy selected pages only, copy the pages from the original document and paste them to a new target document.

If the "CopyPDF" sequence is connected to another sequence in an automated Prinect workflow, the subsequent sequences work on the original documents or pages and not on the copies.

"Duplicate Document" Option

"on" list box

This lets you select which document duplicating engine will be used for copying the document. Generally, you can use the default setting "AllDocumentCopiers".

This is a variable that creates a folder with the name of the current CopyPDF sequence. The folder is created the moment a new job is created and this CopyPDF sequence is assigned to the new job.

"Output is" list box

This list box is dimmed because the target output is always done as a temporary side result for this sequence type.

Pages section

"Store" list box

You can choose between the following options:

Job internal

The copied pages or documents are filed below the "PTJobs\Jobs" folder. The copied pages or documents are used within the workflow.

Job external

You can select a folder for filing the copied pages or documents in the file system of the Prinect server or you can create a new folder. This can be the Hotfolder for a third-party product for example, in order to enable further processing in an automatic workflow. You can enter the path and name of the folder manually or use the "Browse..." button to locate the folder you want.

Job exchange

This item is available only if Prinect Portal Services is connected to the Prinect Manager. "download" is set by default as the name in the "in Folder" box. You should not change this item. When this sequence is assigned to a print job, the PDF files are copied automatically to the relevant download folder on the Prinect Portal Services server that is part of this job.

Example: You want to make imposed, color-converted and trapped PDF data available to a customer. Then you can make a job available to the customer who will upload, for example, 32 pages for a brochure to this job and after a few seconds will receive four 8up PDFs.

"AssemblePDF" Sequence Template

The "AssemblePDF" sequence lets you merge any number of pages, page lists or layouts to one new PDF document. This also lets you merge several documents, each with a single page, to one joint PDF document. You can select your pages in different ways:

In an open job in the "Jobs" section, you can select pages in the "Pages" or "1ups" steps and submit them to the "AssemblePDF" sequence.

In an open job in the "Jobs" section, you can select one or more page lists in the "Pages" or "1ups" steps and submit them to the "AssemblePDF" sequence.

In an open job in the "Jobs" section, you can select layout components (layout, signature(s), sheet(s), surface(s)) in the "Imposition" step and submit them to the "AssemblePDF" sequence (does not apply to versioned layouts, see note below).

The new document has no marks because only pages are combined.

You can use the "AssemblePDF" for layouts as well. It takes layout information into account.

IconNote02321.jpg

Note: Versioned layouts (product parts) cannot be edited with "AssemblePDF" because it is not possible to submit a versioned layout to "AssemblePDF". However, it still continues to be possible to edit older versioned layouts with "AssemblePDF" that were created for earlier versions of the Prinect Integration Manager.

You can use the "BookletProof" sequence to output versioned layouts to a proof printer (see "BookletProof" Sequence Template). The "SendBookletPDF" sequence is available accordingly for the Portal Services workflow (see "SendAssembledPDF" Sequence Template).

IconNote02324.jpg

Note: Prinergy jobs with versioning cannot be edited with AssemblePDF.

You can configure the following steps in the "AssemblePDF" sequence:

"Combine Documents" Option

"Color Conversion" Option

"PDF Optimization" Option

"Destination" Option
