Privacy Policy | Imprint | Prinect Know How | Prinect Release Notes Polar cutters offer the option of generating presetting data for Polar CompuCut. This means that the presetting data for the cutting program are already available before the actual cutting operation. Important Information To generate presetting data for Polar CompuCut, you must note the following: •The Prinect license "PPF Output - Postpress" is required. This license can also be used to create presetting data with Prinect Press, which is preceded by a third-party prepress. This requires that the PPF files imported from the prepress stage contain cutting data. •A cutting operation must be created. The presetting data are generated always on the basis of a cutting operation. The process network used must contain a "SheetFinishing" sequence. See also Finishing Sequences. In the configuration settings for the cutter in the Device Assistant ("Administration > System > CDM"), the "Enable output presettings" option must be enabled in the "PPF options" configuration step. This configuration step must be configured correctly. Proceed as follows to connect a cutter to the Prinect workflow: 1.Start the Prinect Cockpit. 2.Go to "Administration > Settings > System" and click on the name of the Prinect server in the left-hand tree structure to open the substructure. 3.Select "CDM" and select "Add Device" in the context menu. The device assistant appears. 4.In the "General" configuration step, specify the type of connection in the "Connection" selection list. Connection Overview for Polar Cutters The functionality for generating presetting data for Polar CompuCut can be used with the following connection types. •"Data Terminal" connection type See Connection of a cutter with the "Data Terminal" connection type. •"Data Terminal with machine direct" connection type See Connection of a cutter with the "Data Terminal with machine direct" connection type. •"Machine offline" connection type See Connection of a cutter with the "Machine offline" connection type. Connection of a cutter with the "Data Terminal" connection type In this Workflow, the presetting data is created by Prinect Integration and made available in a Hotfolder for the Polar CompuCut software. The data are available after the "AutoPreset" process that runs during the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence has finished. A Data Terminal is set up next to the Polar cutter to record the production data for the subsequent cutting operation. You can find information about installing and configuring a Data Terminal at the following point: Connecting a Data Terminal. Connection of a cutter with the "Data Terminal with machine direct" connection type In this Workflow, the presetting data is created by Prinect Integration and made available in a Hotfolder for the Polar CompuCut software. The data are available after the "AutoPreset" process that runs during the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence has finished. A Data Terminal is also integrated into the Polar cutter in order to record the production data for the subsequent cutting operation. You can find information about installing and configuring a Data Terminal at the following point: Connecting a Data Terminal. Connection of a cutter with the "Machine offline" connection type In this workflow, the presetting data - similar to the "Data Terminal with Machine direct" connection type - is created by Prinect Integration and made available to the Polar CompuCut software via a Hotfolder. The data are available after the "AutoPreset" process that runs during the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence has finished. With this connection type, the cutting operation is completed in the Cockpit after the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence has been completed and no production data are recorded or transferred.
