"Basic job data" view

Basic data of the new job are entered in this view.

Job Number

Enter a job number in this box. Each job needs a unique job number in Prinect Production. You can take the job number, for example, from a job ticket. The job number is red if you enter a number that already exists in Prinect Production. In this case, you must enter a different job number so that the numbers stay unique.

"Automatic" option

The job number is assigned automatically by the system when you enable this option. The job number is generated based on the following pattern:

Underscore

current year

current month

current day

Underscore

Consecutive number

Example: _20150123_001.

This option simplifies the creation of new jobs, especially if you often create new jobs based on an existing one, e.g. in digital printing.

Job Name

Enter a job name in this box. The job name can be made up of digits and/or letters. The job displays in the list by its job name. We recommend that you use the job number as the prefix and add other characters for the job name. This makes sure that the job name is unique. If you do not wish the job number to be created automatically, the job number is used automatically as the prefix for the job name when you hit the Tab key.

The name must be unique within a group.

Documents

This is where you can add documents you wish to edit in the new job. Click the "Browse" button to open the "Add Files" window. See "Add Files" Window. This is where you can select the documents (files) you want in the file system. The file names display in "Documents".

Even after you create a new job, you can add documents to be edited to the open job.

Job Group

This is where you can define in which job group the new job will be created. The group that was marked in the job list before you invoked "New Job" or the group containing a marked job is set by default. Each job group and each job has its own folder in the file system. The paths to these folders display in the "Job Group" and "Job Home" boxes.

By default, the new job folder is created as a subfolder of the group folder of the marked group. Click the "Change" button if you wish to modify this allocation. In the "Select Group" dialog, you can create a new group by entering a new group name in the "Group Name" box. You assign the new job to this group with "OK".

You can also select another of the job groups and assign the new job to this group with "OK".

Generally, the job folder is created as a subfolder of its group folder. This is indicated by a "lock" that links the "Job Group" and "Job Home" boxes. The "Job Home" box is also dimmed. Click the lock if you wish to change the job folder and set it somewhere that is not immediately below the group folder. The lock icon is then "open". You can now use the "Change" button beside the "Job Home" box and, after clicking this button, you can select another folder in the file system in the "Select Location for Job Data" dialog or create a new folder. See also "Create Job Location" Window.

"Start Job" option

When this option is enabled, the job starts immediately after you close the "Create New Job" window by clicking "Finish". When the job starts, all documents added to the job are processed immediately by the sequences defined in "Processing".

You will find details about the buttons along the bottom of the dialog in: Buttons in all views.

"Maximize Job View" option

When this option is enabled, the new job opens in the maximized view. See Setting Options for "Job List", "Job", "Job Notes" and "Digital Printing Terminal" Windows.

"Customer Data" view

In this view, you can set data about customers in order to assign the new job to a specific customer. These data are not mandatory for creating a new job but can be very helpful when running Prinect Production (for example, when looking for certain jobs).

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: A customer must have been entered in the customer administration of Prinect Production to be able to select this customer for assigning to a job. See Customers.

Customer Name

Select a customer name from the list box. The list box shows all the customers who are registered in customer administration. The "Customer ID" and "Nickname" boxes are then filled automatically.

Customer ID

If a customer was already selected, his/her customer ID displays in this box. If no customer was selected so far, you can select the customer in the list box using the customer ID. The "Customer Name" and "Nickname" boxes are then filled automatically.

Nickname

If a customer was already selected, his/her short name displays in this box. If no customer was selected so far, you can select the customer in the list box using the short name. The "Customer Name" and "Customer ID" boxes are then filled automatically.

Agency (only for Prinect Portal Services)

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: This parameter is available only if Prinect Production is connected to Prinect Portal Services.

You can assign an agency to the new job with this function. The "Select Agency" dialog opens when you click the "Agency" button. You can select one of the available agencies in this dialog. Your selection can be based on the customer name, customer ID or nickname.

The agency you selected displays in "Agency". You can also set a default agency that is always assigned automatically to the customer.

Customer Job ID

This box is designed for the case that customers will have their own job number that differs to the one set in Prinect Production. By default, the Prinect job number is set in this box. You can use this number if a customer job number is not required.

You can overwrite this with the new customer job number if a customer's own job number is required. This is then assigned to the job in addition to the Prinect job number.

Customer Job Name

This box is designed for the case that customers will have their own job name that differs to the one set in Prinect Production. By default, the Prinect job name is set in this box. You can use this name if a customer job name is not required.

You can overwrite this with the new customer job name if a customer's own job name is required. This is then assigned to the job in addition to the Prinect job name.

You will find details about the buttons along the bottom of the dialog in: Buttons in all views.
