Separate proofing output for HEIDELBERG / Gallus Inkjet digital presses with PagePrint sequences

These presses can be set up so that, if wanted, a proof can be set in the "Submit" dialog of the "Digital Printing" step, allowing you to output a single copy (delivery quantity 1) of the current print job to a proofer or soft proofer. This requires that a suitable proofer is available and set up in the Prinect system environment (using Color Proof Pro or the Proofing Engine Manager). The "InkJetProof" option must be enabled in the PagePrint sequence used for proofing.

There are also the following options for proofing for the HEIDELBERG / Gallus inkjet digital presses:

"InkJet Proof" option

"Layout Preparation" option

"Imposition" Option

"Rendering" Option

"Proofing" Option or

"File Output" Option

"InkJet Proof" option

Use this option if you also want to enable proofing to an installed proofer in addition to output via the digital press. The "InkJetProof" option influences how the automatic workflow acts and when submitting manually. The "Layout Preparation", "Imposition", "Interpreting", "Tiling", "Rendering" and "Proofing" (or "File Output") options are enabled at the same time with this option.

In the "Digital Printing" step, the "Proof" option in the "Submit" dialog is enabled by default and can be used. You can, however, switch over to the "Normal" output mode. In an automatic workflow, for example, if a Qualify sequence is linked to this PagePrint sequence, proofing is automatically to the set proofer and not to the digital press.

A normal run is output if "InkJetProof", "Layout Preparation", "Imposition", "Rendering" and "Proofing" (or "File Output") are not enabled. This is valid for the automatic workflow if a Qualify sequence is linked to this PagePrint sequence and also for manual output. In this case, the "Proof" option in the "Submit" dialog is dimmed. See also Submit print job to the printing press.

"Layout Preparation" option

The parameters that you can set in this step are the same as those in a PageProof sequence. See "Layout Preparation" option.

"Imposition" Option

The parameters that you can set in this step are the same as those in a PageProof sequence. See "Imposition" option.

"Rendering" Option

The parameters that you can set in this step are the same as those in a PageProof sequence. See "Rendering" option.

IconNoteNote: For the workflow described here, it is important that "Use Embedded PDF/X Output Intent, if available, as Press Profile" is enabled in "Proof Color Management" in the "Rendering" step. See "Use Embedded PDF/X Output Intent, if available, as Press Profile" option.

"Proofing" Option

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: This option is available only if a proofer is connected and installed via the HEIDELBERG Color Proof Pro software and is selected in the "on" list box (like in a PageProof sequence. See "PageProof" Sequence Template).

A proof, and not a print, is output to the selected proofer if you enable this option and if you select a connected proofer in the "on" list box. There are two different cases:

If "InkJetProof" is also enabled, output in the automatic workflow is solely to the proofer and not to the digital press. If output is manual, the "Proof" option in the "Submit" dialog is enabled by default. You can, however, switch the option to "Normal". Then a proof is not output but a regular print run.

If "InkJet Proof" is not enabled, output in the automatic workflow is always a digital print run, i.e. no proof is output. If output is manual, the "Normal" option in the "Submit" dialog is enabled by default. You can, however, switch the option to "Proof". Then a proof is output and there is no print run.

"File Output" Option

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: This option is available only if a soft proofer was set using the Proofing Engine Manager and is selected in the "on" list box.

Proofing, with "InkJetProof" enabled or disabled, acts in the same way as for the "Proofing" option. See "Proofing" Option. For a file output, proofing is to a soft proof file and not to a proofer.

The generated soft proof documents are filed below the "PTJobs\Jobs" folder.
