"Submit to ganging" window

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: In order to "Submit to ganging", you must select the required pages or sheets in the "Imposition" window before opening the "Submit to ganging" window by selecting "Job > Submit to ganging" in the Cockpit main menu. Take note of the following when selecting elements to be submitted:

If the job contains sheets with assigned pages, all sheets can be submitted. If individual sheets do not contain any assigned pages, these sheets will not be submitted.

If the job does not contain any sheets but does contain page lists with assigned pages, the assigned pages of the page list(s) can be submitted.

If the job does not contain any sheets or page lists with assigned pages, all pages of the job can be submitted. If a job does not contain any pages, no pages can be submitted to ganging.

Functionality of gang jobs

The "Submit to ganging" function allows you to combine selected pages/sheets into a "Gang job". See also Gang jobs.

The following processing steps are required for gang jobs:

The pages selected for the gang job, which may also originate from different print jobs (e.g. from different customers) and may have different page formats, are combined into a common "gang job". Note that print jobs whose pages/sheets are to be combined into a gang job must have the following in common:

The pages/sheets must be intended for printing on the same printing material.

The same printing inks should be used.

All pages/sheets should be printed with the same print run.

After selecting the pages/sheets and completing and confirming the "Submit to ganging" dialog, a gang layout is generated at the Prinect Signa Station – usually automatically – and the pages/sheets are automatically assigned to the page positions of the gang layout.

The data of the submitted gang run job are filed as xml files in the gang job pool of Prinect Signa Station.

"Quantity" box

The "Quantity" describes the following page count:

For jobs without versioning, the "Quantity" corresponds to the print run.

For jobs with versioning (language-specific parts are processed in a special versioning workflow), "Quantity" refers to the quantity that will be produced per version. The sum of quantities per version gives you the total quantity or print run quantity.

"Overproduction" box

Here you can enter a planned overproduction (in percent) if required.

"Version" list box

IconPrerequisitePrerequisite: This list box can only be used if versioned pages/sheets have been selected for ganging.

Select the version(s) that you want to submit for ganging. You can select individual versions or all available versions for ganging in the list box.

IconNoteNote: Depending on the version selection, the contents of the "Quantity" and "Overproduction" boxes may change.

"Folding" Group

This is where you can overwrite the folding rule of the selected product part template, if necessary.

You can also set the proportions for the elements of an asymmetric fold. This is done in the "Rule" text box.

Example: Scheme: "F4-1" and rule: "X40X60" (for a business card with an asymmetric fold)

Scheme

You can type the name of the folding scheme directly into this box (e.g. "F4-1").

"Select" button

Click the "Select" button to open a window where the existing folding schemes of Prinect Signa Station are listed. Select the scheme you need. It displays in the "Scheme" text box only after you confirm with "OK" and close the window.

Rule

You can use this text box whenever the "Scheme" text box has an item. You will find more details about folding rules in the tooltip.

"Sequence" Group

In this section, you can specify the prepare sequence to which the gang job is to be submitted for further processing. All available prepare sequences are displayed in the window. Clicking on the "+" button opens a dialog box in which you can add further sequence templates (if available) to the sequence selection. Select the prepare sequence to which the gang job is to be submitted.

"Colors" Group

The color separations of the sheets (front and back pages) currently intended for the gang job output are displayed here. You can edit this selection using the "Change" button.

"Change" button

The "Colors" window will open. Here you can select which colors (separated for front and back) are to be printed with the gang job. All the colors defined in the documents selected for the gang job are available for selection.

"Paper" group

Quality

Enter the printing material quality for printing the gang job here. Use the same description as in Prinect Signa Station (e.g. matt, glossy, etc.).

Grammage

If the "Grammage" property is defined for at least one of the selected sheets, this grammage is adopted for submitting to ganging and displayed here. In this case, the grammage cannot be changed here. If no paper with a grammage is assigned to a sheet, the grammage can be changed here. This also applies if a grammage is defined in the job settings. In this case, this field is preset with this grammage.

Grain direction

This is where you select the grain direction for the gang layout, i.e. the orientation of the gang job sheet to the paper grain:

From source layout: When creating the gang layout, the Prinect Signa Station takes the grain direction from the source layout of the selected sheets. This is set by default.

Normal: The paper is aligned in the press parallel to the direction of the paper fibers.

Rotated: The paper is aligned in the press perpendicular to the direction of the paper fibers.

Uniform: If different grain directions are defined in the source layouts, they are redefined to a uniform grain direction.

"Other" Group

Set Due Date

The calendar box you need is enabled for editing when you select the "Set due date" option. You can enter a due date (date and time) in the date box or extend or shorten the date/time shown by clicking the small arrow buttons.

You can also select the due date in a "calendar view" by clicking on the adjacent button. A calendar window will then open. See also "Choose Date" Window.

Comment

Here you can enter a comment on the gang job.

User-defined Attributes

Status

If the gang job contains user-defined attributes, the usage status of these attributes is displayed here.

"Edit" button

The "User-defined attributes" window will open. Select the required attributes here. If there are no user-defined attributes in the system, this window cannot be opened and a corresponding message will appear.

IconNoteNote: You can create user-defined attributes in "Administration > Preferences > All Users > User-defined Attributes". See User-defined Attributes.
