Privacy Policy | Imprint | Prinect Know How | Prinect Release Notes The "Pages" step provides you with functions that you can use to prepare and configure the pages of customer documents for the various processing methods (offset printing, proofing, digital printing, gang jobs, versioning, etc.) in the Prinect workflow. This step also involves assigning the document pages to page lists. Page lists contain placeholders – empty at first – for the document pages ("page positions") that are required for processing in the Prinect workflow. The "JDF" (Job Definition Format) data format, which is standard in the Prinect workflow, is used for page lists, while the document pages are in PDF format. By assigning the PDF document pages to the page positions in the page lists, the PDF pages are integrated into the page context of the Prinect workflow. This means that the pages of the PDF documents can also be assigned to different page numbers or sequences in the Prinect workflow. In this step, page lists can be created or imported from other jobs. If you want to add document pages that are contained in a gang job to the current job, follow the steps below: 1.Select "Tools > Manage Gang Pool" in the Cockpit main menu. The "Gang job" window will open. See "Gang Job" Window. 2.Select the document pages from the source jobs that you want to add to the job and drag them to the thumbnails of the page list positions using drag-and-drop. The pages are copied from the source job and assigned to the page positions of the current job (the "target job") in sequence, starting from the insertion position. If there are more target positions than source pages, the source pages may be assigned to the surplus positions several times. Example: Number of source pages = 2 Number of target positions = 10 Result: Each source page is assigned five times as follows: Source page 1 to positions 1+3+5+7+9 Source page 2 to positions 2+4+6+8+10 The current job is registered as a gang job in the source job, and the source job is registered in the target job. After the pages have been assigned, the corresponding entries (files) are removed from the file list in the folder for gang jobs and copied to the "Work&Done" folder. Re-sorting pages that have already been assigned You can use drag-and-drop to reorder pages that have already been assigned to the positions in a page list. To do this, you must hold down the "Alt" key before starting the re-sorting. Select a page with the mouse, drag it to the new position and then release the mouse button. The selected page will be swapped with the page in the target position. An error message may be displayed, which you must confirm in order to perform the exchange. The mouse pointer changes appearance while you are dragging and dropping with the "Alt" key pressed. Different handling of product part page lists when importing versioned layouts "Old way" of importing page lists Product parts were ignored in earlier versions of Prinect if certain versioned layouts with product part definitions were imported from Prinect Signa Station. This applies only to special layouts whose versions cover several product parts. Such layouts are used, for example, in book production. "New way" of importing page lists From Prinect Production version 2021, the product parts are taken into account when creating the page lists, i.e. separate page lists are created for each product part. To distinguish these "product part page lists", the name of the product part is included in the page list name. In addition to creating the product part page lists, the corresponding product parts are transferred from the Prinect Signa Station to the Cockpit workflow. •If the page lists are assigned to the existing layout by the "old way", with layout replacement done interactively. •If the data were taken from a predecessor job and the layout in the predecessor job contains page lists assigned in the "old way". The page lists are imported by the "new way" if the data were taken from a predecessor job where the layout has page lists that were already assigned by the "new way". In other words: The data are always taken from a predecessor job in the same way as done in the predecessor job. When pages in the gang job are approved interactively, a check is then run to see whether the source pages were changed. You are prompted to refresh the pages if the source pages were changed. Display of a changed page in the customer job in gang jobs A gang job contains copies of the pages of the customer job. If a source page in the customer job has been changed, this is indicated in the gang job by a warning symbol. A tooltip also provides additional information. Icon in the list view. Warning on a modified page in the thumbnail view.

Note: If opening the source jobs (which is necessary for copying the pages) fails, corresponding messages are displayed. Likewise, errors that occur when moving the items from the gang pool to the "Work&Done" folder are also indicated.
Note: When replacing a layout, the page lists are created using the old method under the following conditions:
