Permissions for Prinect Shooter are managed in "Administration > Users". Prinect Shooter has its own user management. This means that you can define and manage your users yourself in Prinect Shooter. You can use the user data of a Master Data Store if there is a connection to such a store. See MDS.
Concept of User Management and Permissions Structure
Note: See Create Users for details about the user interface setup.
User management for Prinect Shooter has nothing to do with user management of your operating system. To have a better overview of your work, it may be a good idea to use the same user names and passwords in the user management of Prinect Shooter and in your operating system.
In user management, a difference is always made between storing and managing your Prinect Shooter user data locally on your Prinect Shooter PC or centrally on a Master Data Store (MDS) server. See MDS.
•Local user management
·Type: "Local"
The user data are stored locally on your computer.
•MDS (Master Data Store) user management
·Type: "MDS"
Prerequisite: There is a connection to an MDS server. See MDS.
The Prinect Shooter master data and your user data are stored on the MDS server.
Prinect permissions structure is valid. See Prinect Permissions Structure (Managed in the Master Data Store).
The following is applicable both for local and for MDS user management: The permissions of a user are defined solely by belonging to one of the following permission groups:
•Group with administrator permissions
•Group with Poweruser permissions
•Group with user permissions
•Group with guest permissions
The permissions of the group are based on a hierarchy. Administrator permissions have the most authority and guest permissions the least.
The following users are defined by default after installation:

You should log in as administrator the first time you start Prinect Shooter Printmanager after installation. You can then create new users and assign each user to a permission group.
Prinect Permissions Structure (Managed in the Master Data Store)
The MDS users created in a Prinect application are stored on the MDS server. They are available to all other Prinect applications that are connected to the MDS server.
In the MDS permissions structure, the following permission groups are mandatory for all Prinect applications:
•Administrators
•Powerusers
•Users
•Guests
See Prinect user administration.
The permissions of the MDS users are managed autonomously by each Prinect application. This means that the permissions that an MDS user has are defined separately in each Prinect application. The permissions of the MDS user are defined by means of the group the user belongs to. (Prinect Integration Manager is an exception in the Prinect system. In this case, individual permissions can also be assigned to the MDS users.)
Example
Prinect Shooter, Prinect Signa Station and Prinect Integration Manager are connected to a central MDS server.
You create an MDS user called "HD_Global" in Prinect Shooter and assign it to the "Users" permission group.
The "HD_Global" user is now available in all other Prinect applications that are connected to the MDS server, this means in our example in Prinect Signa Station and in Prinect Integration Manager. As a result, you can log in as "HD_Global" with the related password on Prinect Signa Station and on the Prinect Integration Manager as well. Here too, the "HD_Global" user has the permissions of the "Users" permission group.
All users in all Prinect applications that have administrator permission can assign the "HD_Global" user to another permission group. This means, for example, that an administrator on Prinect Signa Station can change the permissions of the "HD_Global" user in the MDS.
