User administration - concept

IconNote01030.jpg

Note: With its components – the Integration Manager, the Prinect Pressroom Manager, the Prinect Postpress Manager and the Prinect Digital Front End (Prinect DFE) – the Prinect Manager represents the Prinect Workflow variant with the highest integration level. For reasons of clarity, only the term Prinect Manager will be used in the following. User administration is identical in all Prinect Managers.

The Prinect Manager has a user administration of its own that is independent of the PC's user administration. This user administration has nothing to do with the user administration in the "Active Directory" of a Windows domain or in a local PC. It can, however, be useful to use the same user names and passwords in the user management of the Prinect Manager as in your operating system environment.

As a rule, the user data of the Prinect Manager is saved and managed in the master data store (MDS). All Prinect applications which are connected to the master data store are therefore available to all users.

Note: The user data managed in the master data store is used in Prinect Cockpit and also in Prinect Portal. For this reason, the data structures have to be matched. For example, there are no longer any "negative rights". Individual user rights are no longer assigned either; instead, only group rights can be assigned. For this reason the user data is synchronized during updating to Prinect Manager Version 2018 (where applicable). Synchronization is performed automatically when Prinect Manager 2018 starts the first time. If conflicts should arise during this process (negative or direct permission), a system message will be issued (see Dynamic Footer).

The "Permissions" tab offers a migration wizard to solve such conflicts. The wizard identifies the migration issues and offers steps to solve these issues.

The "User" section has the following tabs:

"User" Tab

"Groups" Tab

"Permissions" Tab

Generally recommended procedure for allocating permissions

When the Prinect Manager is started for the first time following installation, you should log on as "Administrator". In this role, you have permissions to define new users and to assign rights by assigning one permissions group or several permissions groups to the user. Proceed as described in the sections below:

How do I create a new permissions group?

How do I delete a permissions group?

Permissions for Multi Users

You should proceed as follows when allocating permissions:

1.First create all permissions groups which you require in addition to the preset permissions groups.

2.Assign permissions to every user already set up by assigning him to the corresponding permissions groups. He is then given the permissions of every group he is member of.
