Design of the User Interface in the Sections

The user interface of all sections is divided into two static elements and one dynamic element.

Upper section (static)

On the left, the name, number and customer name of the job.

On the right, the "job state" and the "Start"/"Stop" button.

Start / Stop

An active job whose status is "Suspended" starts when you click this button. The "Start Jobs" window opens if at least 10 jobs are marked and started. This window lets you disable single jobs if required.

Click this button to display the "Stop Jobs" window. You can stop marked jobs and all jobs of a selected group and their subgroups in this window  and set them to "Suspended".

Middle section (dynamic)

This displays the content that varies according to the section selected.

Lower section (static)

This is where you will find details about the course and progress of processes.

"Product Description" section

This displays the product description that was created in the job preparation.

Product Parts and Versions (left pane)

This shows the product parts and versions that were defined.

You can set up hierarchy levels for the product parts. In other words, product parts can in turn contain product parts. The top hierarchy level is marked by the term "End product".

Each product part can have versions. Versions are always on the lowest hierarchy level.

The "Product Part" button or "Edit > Product Part" in the context-sensitive menu lets you open the "Edit Products of" window where you can create and rename product parts and versions.

Note: When you invoke the window this way, you always edit the product parts or versions in the hierarchy level that you selected beforehand. To edit another hierarchy level, you must select the product part you want on the left and run the function again. The window caption bar always displays the name of the product part whose elements you are currently editing.

Note: No version-specific boxes display in the "Edit Products of" dialog if the "Versioning" option is not enabled.

Master Version

The master version is the version that is used as the basis for the versions in versioning. These versions are made up of their version-specific part and the master version as their basis.

You must take into account the different scenarios here:

Imaging plates with a Prinect Signa Station layout with versioning:

The first press sheet variant is always printed first in the layout with versioning. This means that a complete plate set is imaged, e.g. CMYK. This plate set is inserted into the press for the first of the version printing operations.

In addition, plates are imaged only for the version-specific colors, e.g. "K". Only these plates are replaced at the press for the other version printing operations.

A version-specific color is one that is set in the "Colors" group in "Jobs". You must set the version-specific colors to "Output (every version)" in "Destination" in "Product Colors.

The term "master version" is purely for your information in this process. Nothing is controlled by it.

Prepare sequence, "Versioning" step:

It is essential that you define a master version for this step, namely for division and/or comparison.

The pages of the master version must run through this step first.

The "Versioning" step can be done separately for each product part because each product part can have its own master version.

Where can I define a master version?

Prinect Integration Manager: "Edit Products of" window.

Prinect Signa Station:
If you have a Prinect Signa Station layout with versioning, the master version is the version that is located on the first press sheet variant and on the first folding sheet. This definition is used when you import the layout to the Prinect Integration Manager.

It is possible to create different product parts that each have a master version. The master versions can also be identical. This means that you can have two product parts with the same language master version, e.g. "English".
