Procedure for Creating Additional Actions
Proceed as follows if the device is already set up and you wish to add an additional action (new button on the machine):
1.Create the new action.
See Creating a New Action (PDC Message).
2.Assign the new action to the device on the Central Device Manager.
See Device Assistant.
Creating a New Action (PDC Message)
The key actions are already created by default (e.g. Makeready and Production Run). Proceed as follows to create further actions:
1.Go to "Administration > Device configuration > Action".
2.Click "Create".
The "Actions" dialog displays.
3.Define the settings for the new action:
Designation
Give the action a name. This name displays as a button name on the machine if the "Short Form" option is disabled.
Short form
When enabled, the name entered in this box displays as a button name on the machine. This lets you enter a different name (e.g. a longer name).
Number
The number identifies the action uniquely. If you already created actions on the MIS, enter the action number from the MIS in this box ("LegacyID" in the Prinect Business Manager).
Time category and Time type
Define the time category and time type for time evaluation in Analyze Point. Time evaluation is important to make a difference between productive times and non-productive times. See also Time Category and Time Type.
Action selectable with reference to a job
When enabled, the action may be recorded on the machine only if a (job-related) job start has taken place.
Action selectable without reference to a job
When enabled, the action may be recorded only without reference to a job on the machine.
Action always selectable
When enabled, the action may be recorded with and without reference to a job on the machine.
Job status
Select the job status. This describes the status the action will have as soon as the button (PDC message) has been actuated.
•InProgress
The action is currently in progress/running.
•Cleanup
The action is in the cleanup status.
•DoNotCare
The status of the action does not change, the old status is kept.
•Stopped
Execution of the action will be stopped but not yet canceled. This means, the action can be continued at a later time. This status can occur, for example during a break or maintenance.
•Empty item
This item is relevant for actions that do not relate to a job (job info="Without"). This can be relevant, for example, when the machine operator logs in or off.
Job status details
Generally, you do not have to select anything in this box. The "Job status details" are relevant only for certain third-party MIS.
Device classes
Enable all the device classes that the action will be used on. Only then can it be selected in the device setup on the CDM.
Action Groups
Assign an action group to the action. You can create a new group with "Create". For details, see Action Groups (Cost Groups).
4.Click "OK".
The new action is created. It must be assigned to the devices on the CDM in order for it to display on the machine. See Device Assistant.
Delete an Action (PDC Message)
You can only delete custom actions.
1.To do this, go to "Administration > Device configuration > Action".
2.Highlight the action.
3.Click "Delete".
All devices to which this action is assigned display. After you confirm with "Yes", the action can no longer be seen on any device.
