Privacy Policy | Imprint | Prinect Know How | Prinect Release Notes The press this operation is assigned to prints the separations shown in the Operations list. Example to explain the operation name: The name of the operation is "Body 3(4) / 4(4)". •Body = sheet name •3(4) = There are four color separations for the front, of which three will be printed in this operation (see "Chroma" to see which ones these are). •4(4) = There are four color separations for the back, all of which will be printed in this operation (see "Chroma" to see which ones these are). Context menu You can invoke or run more editing functions in the context menu. To invoke the context menu, select an operation and click right. The context menu has the following functions: Context menu command Function Split Separations You can divide up the color separations among several operations if you plan to print more than one separation in an operation. Select the operation you want and in the context menu click "Split Separations". The "Split Separations" window opens. This is where you can click the color separations that will be assigned to a new, subsequent operation. You can also select a different press for the new operation in the "Machine" list box. Confirm the dialog with "OK". Note: The list box shows only presses that are located in the same machine cluster. This ensures that the print format of the newly selected press is suitable for the job in question. For information on clusters, refer to: Clusters. Merge Separations You can merge the printing of separations to output them in one operation. Select the operations in question and invoke the context menu command "Merge Separations". "Sequence" / "Machine" list box This is where you can select the sequence and the press for this sequence. If allowance, setup time and production times are set up for the selected machine in the Device Assistant, then this data is set by default in the input boxes. For information about the machine setup in the Device Assistant, go to "Administration" > "System" > "[name of Prinect server]" > "CDM" > "selected machine" > Edit" in the context menu. The "SheetfedPrinting" sequence will be selected automatically based on the parameters. Split Amounts The selected operation is split into two equal operations. As a result, the total amount of print products can be split and produced in parallel on several machines. Note: If you want to print on several offset presses at the same time, you must ensure that several sets of printing plates are produced accordingly. Merge Amounts Multiple split operations are merged into one operation, and the amounts are produced with the merged operation. To do this, select the operations in question and invoke this context menu command. Remove Quantities from Stock This function lets you create a new operation for a stock withdrawal. Part of the production volume is replaced by a pre-produced quantity. In the print operation, the quantity withdrawn from the stock is subtracted from the print quantity. Note: Remember there is no automatic feedback to stock management. Production > delegate The selected operation is removed from the planning for processing the current job and executed in another job, i.e. the operation is "delegated" to another job. This can be useful for processing gang jobs, for example. Delegated operations are dimmed. Please note that delegated operations are not automatically assigned to another job, but must be assigned manually. Production > execute An operation set to "delegate" is reset to "execute " again and is included in the job planning again. Separations This function is relevant for print operations planned by separations in the MIS using placeholder colors. The placeholder names must be assigned to the real color names using the "Assign colors" function in such a case. See "Separations" context menu item. Remove The selected operation is removed from planning and deleted ultimately. Buttons Below the list of operations, there are buttons for the following functions: Button Function Merge Amounts Multiple split operations are merged into one operation, and the amounts are produced with the merged operation. To do so, select the operations in question and click this button. Split Amounts The selected operation is split into two equal operations. As a result, the total amount of print products can be split and produced in parallel on several machines. Note: If you want to print on several offset presses at the same time, you must ensure that several sets of printing plates are produced accordingly. Merge Separations You can merge color separations again to output them in one operation. Select the operations to be merged and click "Merge Separations". This ensures that the print format of the newly selected press is suitable for the job in question. For information on clusters, refer to: Clusters. "Quantity" box: In the Planning Assistant, all the quantities are calculated based on the delivery quantity entered in the "Delivery" planning step. The quantities in the other planning steps should be calculated and, if possible, not edited. This is why the box for the quantity usually cannot be edited. But it might be necessary to edit the quantities in exceptional cases. You can then unlock this box for editing with the key shortcut "Ctrl + Shift + E". For the selected operation, the quantity produced with this operation is calculated from the displayed quantity plus allowance. This quantity is the output variable for calculation of the amount(s) in the next operation. Example: A "Delivery quantity" of 1000 is entered in the "Delivery" planning step. This quantity will be adopted in the "Binding" step without any changes. Enter an "Allowance" of 15 for binding. The resulting quantity for binding is 1015. In the next planning step ("Sheet finishing"), a quantity of 1015 is the output variable for calculating the folding sheet quantities. "Waste" box The waste is different for each individual machine and is determined by the machine parameters defined in the CDM. As a result, the waste is transmitted by the MDS, but you can change this value if necessary. "Machine" / "Variant" list boxes Select the machine and/or a variant of this machine for planning here. If allowance, setup time and production time are set up for the selected machine in CDM, then these data are set by default in the input boxes. The "SheetFinishing" and "StitchFinishing" sequences are set up automatically based on the selected machines and/or variants. Duration If processing times are taken from the MIS, setup time and production times are calculated using the setup and processing times stored in the MIS. If times are not taken from the MIS, setup time and processing times are calculated using the machine-related parameters filed in the Central Device Manager. Change press assignment with identical format With this function you can change the press assignment in the Planning Assistant and assign a press sheet to another press of the same format. The prerequisite: both presses must be in the same cluster. See Clusters. 1.Select the sheet for which to change the press assignment. 2.Select the press to reschedule in the "Machine" list box. 3.In the "Sequence" selection list, select the "SheetfedPrinting" sequence parameterized for this machine. 4.Click "Finish". The machine assignment has been changed. You can check your process network in "Processing". The "SheetfedPrinting" sequence must match the machine just scheduled there. See "Processing" Section. "Separations" context menu item This function is relevant for print operations planned by separations in the MIS using placeholder colors. The placeholder names must be assigned to the real color names using the "Assign colors" function in such a case. •Yellow warning sign in the operation The planned separations are compared with the separations available for the surface. Operation is highlighted by a yellow warning sign if a separation planned for the operation has no equivalent on the surface. The warning is also displayed if more colors than planned are defined in the content. The tooltip above the warning sign names the planned separations for which there are no corresponding colors in the content or names the colors defined in the content that are not included in the planning. •When it can be used Color mapping is not necessary if a surface will be printed in one operation because all the separations will automatically be output correctly. This means that you can use the "Separations" button only if the color separations are divided up among several operations. •Operation Select the operations for which you would like color mapping. Click the "Separations" button. The "Assign colors" dialog displays. •"Assign colors" dialog This dialog shows the separations presently planned for the operation. They are listed vertically in the order of printing. There is a list box beside each separation, containing the color names in the contents that are not yet planned for another operation of the same surface. Next to the list boxes there is a button to delete the color. This allows the relevant color separation to be removed from the list of separations to be printed. By default, the list boxes are set to the planned color names, provided they exist. By default, the color names of the separations planned for printing are activated in the list boxes if they exist. The OK button is dimmed if the same color is assigned to two different separations. If there are more available color names than planned color names, the list is extended by the required number of items. The additional entries are empty in the "Planned colors" list. Quantity calculation: Using the allowances from Prinect Signa Station in systems without a Postpress license If there is no Postpress license in the Prinect- system environment, the Planning Assistant does not schedule any finishing operations, especially no cutting operations. For that reason, when calculating the quantity for the print operations, multiple 1ups and allowances from postprocessing are ignored, but the quantities that are planned for printing in the layout are included. These quantities include the allowances and 1up distributions calculated by Signa If you enter a new delivery quantity for a product, resulting in it no longer matching the delivery quantity initially specified for the product, the quantities for the print operations are not taken from Signa Station.
