You can switch between the available main views of the Cockpit using the toggle icons below the main menu. The views that are available depend on the options you licensed for Prinect Production. The main menu in the job list view has the following items: File menu New > Job Use this command to create a new job. New > Job from Template This command is available only if a job is marked. This command lets you create a job using the currently marked job as a template. In other words, the new job uses the job settings of the template job. See "Create new Job based on selected Job" Window. Open This command is available only if a job is marked. This command opens the marked job. You can also use the shortcut Command key+O instead of this command. Open Recent Jobs The jobs recently opened (up to nine) display in a submenu. This is a fast way to open one of these jobs. You can also open these jobs with the following key shortcuts: "Command + Shift + [Position]" (PC) or "Command + Shift + [Position]" (Mac). The list of recently opened jobs is saved separately for each user who is logged in. Close This command is available only if a job is marked and open. This command closes the marked job. You can also use the shortcut Command key+W instead of this command. Open Job Ticket This command is available only if a job is marked and a job ticket is assigned to the job. This command opens the job ticket of the job. Open with > Prinect Archive System This command opens the selected job in the Prinect Archive System. Import Use this command to import a job that was exported from a (different) Prinect Production installation. The "Import Job" dialog opens when you select this command. Replace by Import Use this command to replace an existing marked job by importing a job that was exported beforehand from a (different) Prinect Production installation. The "Import Job" dialog opens when you select this command. Export Use this command to export a job. The "Export Job" dialog opens when you select this command. Archive This command archives the selected job. Retrieve Use this command to retrieve an archived job to the Cockpit. Browse This command opens a browse dialog where you can open job data in the file system. See also "Browse" button. Print Use this command to print the current view of the job list to a connected printer. Exit Use this command to exit the Cockpit. Edit menu Start This command starts a suspended job. See also "New Job" button. Stop This command stops the marked job(s). If you marked a group, all the jobs within this group and its subgroups stop. See "New Job" button. Cut Use this command to cut the marked job items and copy them to the clipboard. Copy Use this command to cut the marked job items and copy them to the clipboard. Paste Use this command to open the "Paste Job" dialog and paste a job in the clipboard to the currently marked position. See also "Paste Job" Window. Copy to Use this command to copy a marked job to another job group. After you click it, a dialog opens where you can select the target group. Move to Use this command to move a marked job to another job group. After you click it, a dialog opens where you can select the target group. Find This command opens the "Find Job" window. See Search function). This is where you can look for a certain job using various criteria and open it right away if desired. Put in Recycle Bin This command moves a marked job to the recycle bin. You can either retrieve it from the recycle bin or delete it irrevocably. See also Recycle bin. You can only put stopped, finished jobs in the recycle bin. A suitable message is issued if this is not the case. You can set a job to "finished" using "Mark as Finished" in the context menu. Delete This command irrevocably deletes a marked job. This opens the "Delete Jobs" dialog. See also "Delete Jobs" Window. Rename Use this command to rename a job. This opens the "Rename Job" dialog. See "Rename Job" Window. View menu Jobs Use this command to go to "Jobs". Queues Use this command to go to "Queues". Administration Use this command to go to "Administration". Digital Printing Terminal Use this command to go to "Digital Printing Terminal". [other sections], e. g. Job Combiner, Analyze Point, Scheduler You can go to other available sections. The sections that are available depend on the options you licensed for Prinect Production. Refresh Use this button to refresh the job list. List of Jobs Use this command to view the "Job List" window in its maximum width; the "Job" and "Job Notes" windows are minimized. You can also display this view with the F11 key. Hide Job Notes Use this command to hide the "Job Notes" window fully from the Cockpit. The window displays again when you select the command again. Hide Digital Printing Terminal Use this command to hide the "Digital Printing Terminal" window fully from the "Jobs" section. The window displays again when you select the command again. Collapse All Use this command to hide all open lower levels of all job folders. In other words, the folders are "collapsed". Hit the "arrow to the left" key if you just want to hide the lower levels of a marked job folder. Expand All Use this command to show all lower levels of all job folders. In other words, the folders are "expanded". Hit the "arrow to the right" key if you just want to show the lower levels of a marked job folder. Job menu Lock This command excludes the marked job from all processing operations. You cannot edit a job in a "locked" state and no processing steps are possible. You can only delete a locked job. The job is released when you select "Lock" again. You can recognize a job locked by a user by the "user with lock" icon in the "Job ID" column and by the checkmark in front of "Lock" in the context menu. Only the lock icon displays if a job is locked by the system (e.g. when exporting a job) and not by the user. Job Recovery This command opens the "Job Recovery" dialog. This dialog lists one or more job states as "Job Definition Files (.jdf)" plus their creation date for the marked job. You can restore the job state of a certain date by marking one of these "state files" and clicking "Recover Job Status". Use "Save Job Status" to save the current job state as a .jdf file and restore this state at a later date, if necessary. Add files This command lets you add document files to the marked job. See also "Add Files" Window. Submit to Ganging This command submits the marked job to a "gang job pool". See also Gang jobs. Gang jobs are used to impose several print jobs jointly and, consequently, utilize the sheet layouts optimally by mixing pages from different jobs and placing them in such a way that the jobs can be produced with a minimum of waste. Gang jobs play a key role especially in a "Web-to-Print" workflow. The following conditions are applicable when you submit to ganging: •All sheets are submitted if there are sheets with assigned pages in the marked job. Nothing is submitted if no page is assigned. •The pages of page lists are submitted if there are page lists with assigned pages instead of sheets. •All the pages of the job are submitted if there are no page lists with assigned pages. •Nothing is done if the job has no pages. Submit to Depending on which step of the open job you are currently in, you can use this command to select a matching sequence template to which the job content will be submitted. Mark as Canceled This command tags the marked job as canceled. This opens the "Set Jobs to 'Canceled' " dialog. See also 'Set Jobs to 'Canceled' ' Window. Mark as finished This command tags the marked job as finished. This opens the "Set Jobs to 'Finished'" dialog. See also "Set Jobs to ’Finished’" window. Set Work Step Status The "Set Work Step Status" window opens when you select this command. This is where you can manually set the workflow status of the various steps (CAD, Document, Pages, Imposition, Proof, Plates, Precutting, Press, Digital Printing, Sheet finishing, Product) to "completed". As a result, the automatic status flag is overwritten. The status displayed in the job list changes accordingly. Priority Select the priority (High, Normal or Low) the job will have during processing. Manual Labor This command opens the "Manual Labor" window. See "Manual Labor" Window. This command lets you add "Manual Labor" as an attribute to a job. This means that a note is made in the production data collection that manual labor (away from the automated Prinect workflow) was done on this job. Due date This command lets you subsequently set a due date for a marked job. The "Choose Date" window opens for this. You can enter a date (day and time) in this box by which the job is to be finished. See also "Choose Date" Window. The data that you enter in this window display in the "Due Date" column. Manage Gang Pool This menu item opens a dialog where you can select a folder in the file system that contains single jobs that will be output as a gang job. These single jobs display in a table in this dialog. You can delete single jobs in this dialog, in this way removing them from the gang job. In addition you can define column sets in this job list or group the list. See "Gang Job" Window. Secure Reprint Assistant You open the "Reprint Assistant" with this menu item. See "Reprint Assistant" Window. The Reprint Assistant lets you select a plate that is already output in a finished job and reprint it. Job Memory Card Use this command to write the presetting data for the press to a connected USB mass storage device or a job memory card. Open Soft Proof This command opens a dialog where you can select a soft proof file (image file in TIFF or PNG format) in the file system and open it as a preview in the "Softproof Viewer". See also Soft Proof - Preview. Clean up Job This command cleans up a marked job based on various criteria, letting you delete information in the job that is no longer needed. The criteria that are presented depend on the content of the job currently marked. The "Clean up Job" dialog opens when you select this command. To estimate in advance the savings potential of the cleanup operation, you can calculate the memory that will become available with "Estimate Reduction". The "Process History" cleanup criterion is presented first on its own, if required/available. The job is not fully loaded for this criterion. You can then run other cleanup actions when you invoke this command a second time. See also Cleanup of jobs that are used as a template for multiple reuse. Prinect Archive System Use this command to open the WEB User Interface of the Prinect Archive System. You can find more information about this topic in the Online Help of the Prinect Archive System WEB UI ("?" menu). Prinect Maintenance Center Use this menu command to open the WEB User Interface of the Prinect Maintenance Center. Prinect Portal Use this menu command to open the WEB User Interface of the Prinect Portal. You will find more details in the Online Help of the Prinect Portal. "Help" menu In contrast to the other menus, the "Help" menu is the same in all views, i.e. the menu commands do not change depending on the context of the user interface. See "Help" Menu.
