Pages View

In the page view, you can submit individual pages or groups of pages to a subsequent sequence for further processing, open a page preview or view the processing status of the pages.

Columns in the Pages view

Column

Display

Name

Displays the page name.

Gang Job

Information on whether a gang job is available by displaying the gang job name. You can open the gang job with a double click.

Layout in Gang Job

Display of the name of the layout with which the gang job is produced.

Sheet in Gang Job

Display of the name of the sheet used to produce the gang job.

Knockout Colors

Display of the colors defined in the job.

This information applies to colors that are at the top of the print order and can knock out objects below. The page preview does not always show this knockout. This information is important, for example, for the production of versioned print jobs.

Status in Gang Job

Displays the processing state of each of the pages in the gang job.

Source Job Number

Displays the source job number within a gang job.

Note: The mouse pointer turns into a "hand" when you hover it over the source job number. You can then double click to open the source job.

No. in Page File

Displays the page number defined in the PDF document.

Page colors

Displays the colors in the page (e.g. C, M, Y, K and any spot colors).

Type

Displays the type of color composition (composite or separated).

PDF Format

Displays the PDF format (PDF version).

PDF/X Details

Displays the information whether or not the page is in the PDF/X format, and which PDF/X version it is. You can find more information about the PDF/X-Details in the Preflight Report.

Assign Count: Assigned

Displays, which page number of the PDF document is assigned to which page number in the page list (in brackets). If no page list number is specified, the page has not (yet) been assigned to a page list. The column header displays the number of pages contained in the PDF document, and the total number of pages in brackets.

Assigned Page Lists

Displays, which page list(s) the pages are assigned to.

Proof Status

Displays the proof status as an icon.

Preflight Status (Qualify)

Shows the preflight status of the single jobs. The preflight process is carried out in the qualify sequence. A successful run is marked by the adjacent icon. If there are errors, the checkmark is red.

Preflight Status (Prepare)

Shows the preflight status of the single jobs for the Prepare sequence. A successful run is marked by the adjacent icon.

Note: The icon resembles that of the preflight status of the Qualify sequence but has two ticks instead of one.

Production Approval Status

Displays the production approval status.

The following options are possible:

production_approval_status_wrong

Not Approved

production_approval_status_no

No approval status

Note: The job automatically moves on to the next sequence with "Approved".

Production Approval Comment

Displays the production approval comment, provided a comment has been entered in the "Approval of selected elements" window. See "Approval - [selected elements]" window.

Customer Approval Status

Displays the customer approval status.

The following options are possible:

customer_approval_status_wrong

Not Approved

customer_approval_status_no

No approval status

Customer Approval Comment

Displays the customer approval comment, provided a comment has been entered in the "Approval of selected elements" window. See "Approval - [selected elements]" window.

Modification Date

Displays the date and time of the last change to the document.

Trim Box Offset

Displays the offset in x and y direction by which the trim box is shifted in relation to the media box.

Trim Box

Displays the dimensions of the trim box.

Media box

Displays the dimensions of the media box.

Rotation

Displays by how many degrees the page is rotated counterclockwise in the layout.

Scale

Displays the scale used to display the page on the layout.

Status

Displays status messages.

Stage

Displays the current stage.

Product

Displays the product name (e.g. end product).

Version

Displays the version description of versioned jobs.

PDF Page Number

Displays the page number in the PDF document.

Comment

Displays a comment entered in the "Comments" window with the (user) name of the creator.

Article Number

Displays the article number.

Shape ID

Displays the shape ID.

Shape Name

Displays the shape name.

File name

Displays the name of the PDF file.

No. of Records

Displays the number of data records to check (for PDF/VT documents). See also "Maximum number of data sets to preflight in a PDF/VT" parameter.

Dynamic Columns

Depending on your job, there are dynamic columns for sequences.

Note: Viewable results, e.g. edited PDF pages or sheets generated by a sequence will be displayed as icons in dynamic columns. If necessary, the results can be opened by double-clicking.

Assign

The "Assign pages" window opens. See also "Assign Pages" Window.

Unassign

This cancels the assignment of one or more pages to page list placeholders (F8 key). This removes the assignments of the selected pages from all positions in the corresponding page lists.

Note: You will also find this function in the context menu for the "Page lists" view.

Continue

The "Continue Element Processing" window opens. See also "Continue Element Processing" Window.

Submit

The "Submit" window opens (F12 key). See also "Submit" window.

Prerequisite: This button can only be used if one or more pages are selected.

Note: You will also find this function in the context menu for the "Pages" view.

You can also submit pages using drag-and-drop by selecting the desired pages and dragging them to the corresponding sequence in the "Submit to" group while holding down the left mouse button.

Close Job

The job is closed (shortcut: Command + W).

Context-sensitive Menu for "Pages"

Right-clicking in the "Pages" view opens the corresponding context menu.

The selected page is opened in Acrobat for viewing (shortcut: Command + O).

Note: "Overprint Preview" must be enabled in "Advanced" in Adobe Acrobat to be able to view the print simulation. This function is switched off by default, as the display is usually generated considerably more slowly with the "Overprint Preview" switched on than without it.

If the "PlugIn enabled" function is switched on in the "Acrobat" part of "Administration > Settings > Preferences > Local Applications" in the Cockpit, the "Continue element processing" window will open in the Cockpit at the same time. See also "Continue Element Processing" Window.

Browse

The location of the current job in the file system of the Prinect Production Server is opened in a "Browse" dialog (shortcut: Command + B).

Continue

The processing of pages with the status "Needs attention" is continued.

Submit

The "Submit" window opens. See also "Submit" window.

Prerequisite: You can only select this function if at least one page is selected.

You can also "submit" by dragging and dropping pages to the appropriate sequence in "Submit to".

Submit to Ganging

See "Submit to ganging" window.

Assign > To Product

A window opens in which you can assign the selected page(s) to a product.

Assign > To Page List

The "Assign pages" window opens. See also "Assign Pages" Window.

Unassign

This cancels the assignment of one or more pages to page list positions. This removes the assignments of the selected pages from all positions in the corresponding page lists.

Change Page Geometry

The "Page geometry" window is opened (shortcut: Command + M). See also "Page Geometry" Window.

Approval - Pages

The "Approval - [selected elements]" window opens. See also "Approval - [selected elements]" window.

Check Versioning

The selected pages are opened in Acrobat with the "Versioning Assistant" plug-in. You can use the appropriate functions there. If changes are made to the pages, they can be copied to the Cockpit for further processing. Optionally, you can enter a comment. The changes and the comment are copied to the page list.

Prerequisite: This function can be used only if at least two page lists of the same length are selected and all page lists except for one are versioned. In addition, a page must be assigned to each page list position.

Properties

The page properties are displayed (shortcut: Command + I). See also Page Properties.

Prerequisite: You can only select this function if at least one page is selected.

Paste to "Gang Job"

Pages that have been copied from another job and are in the clipboard are inserted into the active job (gang job) (shortcut: Command + Shift + V).

Delete

The selected pages are deleted after a confirmation prompt (shortcut: Command + Del).

Paste

Pages copied beforehand are pasted to the open job (shortcut Command + V).

Copy

The selected pages are copied to the clipboard (shortcut: Command + C).

Comment

The "Comments" window opens. You can enter a comment for the selected page. This comment displays immediately afterwards in the comment column.

Refresh Source Pages

If the source pages of a gang job have been changed, they will be updated in the gang job.

Open Source Job

If an element of a gang job is selected, the corresponding source job is opened.

Open Current Proof

The last proof document created is opened in Acrobat for viewing.

Assignment Presentation

The view is switched to the assignment presentation (F9 key). This function lets you assign pages in a fast and easy-to-follow way using drag-and-drop.

Clicking on this command again or pressing F9 will switch back to the original view.

The document pages that are to be assigned to the page list positions (page placeholders) in the right-hand area are located in the left-hand area. You can now select one or more pages and drag them to the desired page list position by holding down the left mouse button and then dropping them there. See also Assignment Presentation. If several pages are selected at the same time, the subsequent page list positions are automatically filled.

Show Thumbnails

The list display in the "Pages" view changes to the thumbnail display (a checkmark is now placed in front of the function entry in the context menu) (F4 key).

Clicking on this command again or pressing F4 will switch back to the list view.

Grouping

In "Grouping" you can group the pages by product, version and assignment.

Product

The pages are grouped according to product assignment. Clicking on the small triangle in front of the product entries opens the corresponding section and displays the pages belonging to the product as thumbnails. If other groups are enabled (e.g. Version), you can see the thumbnails only after the grouping concerned is opened.

Version

The pages are grouped according to their version assignment, i.e. according to the product parts. Clicking on the small triangle in front of the version entries opens the corresponding section and displays the pages belonging to the version as thumbnails. If other groups are enabled (e.g. the "Assigned" group), you can see the thumbnails only after the group concerned is opened.

Assigned

The pages are divided into the groups "Assigned" and "Not assigned". A click on the small triangle in front of "Assigned" or "Not Assigned" opens the section concerned and the relevant pages are shown as thumbnails.

Reload Selected Thumbnails

The selected (activated) thumbnails are reloaded from the source file.

Collapse All

All open lower levels in the groups are closed (shortcut: Alt + left arrow key: <).

Expand All

All closed lower levels in the groups are opened (shortcut: Alt + right arrow. >).

View Properties
