Menu command Function Create New Page List See also Button bar at bottom, "New" button. Copy Page Lists from Other Jobs This function opens the "Copy page lists from other jobs" window See "Copy Page Lists from Other Jobs" Window. This is where you can select page lists from other jobs and copy them including their content into the current job. Create Versions with Page Lists This function opens the "Create versions with page lists" window. See "Create Versions with Page Lists" Window. Open Prerequisite: The "Open" function (shortcut: Command + O) is only available if a page has been assigned to the selected page position. The "Open" function opens the page in Acrobat for viewing. Note: "Overprint Preview" must be enabled in "Advanced" in Adobe Acrobat to be able to view the print simulation. This function is switched off by default, as the display can take considerably longer to build up with the "Overprint preview" switched on than without it. If the "PlugIn enabled" function is switched on in the "Acrobat" part of "Administration > Settings > Preferences > Local Applications", the "Continue element processing" window will open at the same time. See also "Continue Element Processing" Window. Browse The location of the current job in the file system of the Prinect Production Server is opened (shortcut: Command + B). Continue The processing of pages with the status "Needs attention" is continued. Submit Prerequisite: This command can only be used if one or more elements are selected. The selected elements are submitted to a sequence for further processing. The "Submit" window is opened for this purpose. See "Submit" window. Note: You can also submit pages using drag-and-drop by selecting the desired pages and dragging them to the corresponding sequence in the "Submit to" group while holding down the left mouse button. You can also trigger the submit process by clicking on the "Submit" button. See also Button bar at bottom, "Submit" button. Submit to Ganging The selected elements are submitted to a gang job. The "Submit to ganging" window will open. See "Submit to ganging" window. Assign > To Product The selected page list is assigned to a product or a version. A window will open in which you can select the product or version. Assign > Assign Blank Page This function is used to define individual or multiple page list placeholders as "blank pages", i.e. no document pages can be assigned to these page list positions. You can use this function as follows: •Case 1: Defining blank pages before assigning pages Before you assign document pages to the positions of a page list, you can reserve certain positions for blank pages. These positions are then blocked for assignment and remain empty. Proceed as follows: Select one or more page list positions that are to be defined as blank pages and select "Assign > Assign blank page" from the context menu. These page list positions will then be marked with the "Blank page" entry. If a layout has already been assigned to the page list, it will be automatically adjusted accordingly. The layout positions of the locked blank pages are displayed in blue and crossed out. If you now assign several document pages to the page list, the blank pages will be skipped. The other document pages are assigned to the page positions in the job in which they appear in the document. Example: In a page list, position 8 is defined as a blank page. Then the document pages 1-7 are assigned to the page list positions 1-7, while the document pages 8 and following are assigned to the page list positions 9 and following. Note: You can reverse the assignment of blank pages by selecting the blank pages and selecting "Reverse assignment" from the context menu. •Case 2: Defining blank pages after assigning pages In this case, document pages have already been assigned to the positions in a page list. Select one or more page list positions and select "Assign > Assign blank page" from the context menu. In the "Assign Pages" dialog, you will be asked whether you want to replace the page assignments. There are the following options in this case: •Pages have already been assigned to all selected page list positions: "Yes" button: The previous page assignments are lost. Instead, a blank page is assigned to all selected page list positions. "No" or "Cancel" buttons: No blank pages are assigned. The existing page assignments are retained. •Some of the selected page list positions have assigned pages and some haven't: "Yes" button: The previous page assignments are lost. Instead, a blank page is assigned to all selected page list positions. "No" button: A blank page is assigned only to the page list positions to which no pages were assigned. All existing page assignments are retained. "Cancel" button: No blank pages are assigned. The existing page assignments are retained. •Case 3: Defining blank pages in versioned jobs In large versioned jobs, it is troublesome to individually assign blank pages that are placed on identical positions in all versions. In a versioned layout, you can define blank pages for all versions at the same time. After selecting the context menu command in versioned jobs, the "Assign blank page" dialog opens. If you answer "Yes" to the question "Apply this assignment to all other versions as well?", this page position will be defined as a blank page in every version. Prerequisite: You can only define blank pages in all versions at the same time if no page has yet been assigned to the page list positions in question in any of the versions. If document pages have already been assigned to one or more versions of a page list position, you must assign blank pages to these "occupied" positions in each version individually and thus cancel any existing page assignments. Unassign This cancels the page list assignment. Move Positions The functions in this window allow you to move page placeholders within a page list to a different position. The "Move page list position(s)" window opens. See "Move Page List Position(s)" Window. Prerequisite: This menu command can only be used if a page is selected within a page list. If the page list has already been assigned to a layout, this command is rejected with a message. In this case, you must first undo the layout assignment and then move the page position. Insert Positions This function allows you to insert a new position in a page list. The "Insert positions" window opens. See "Insert Positions" Window. Prerequisite: You can only use this menu command if a page list or a page in a page list is selected. Change Page Geometry This function allows you to change the page geometry, i.e. the dimensions of the pages in the selected page list. The "Page geometry" window is opened (shortcut: Command + M). See also "Page Geometry" Window. Prerequisite: This menu command can only be used if at least one position in the page list is assigned to a document page. Approval - Pages This function allows you to assign an approval status to the selected pages. The "Approval - [selected elements]" window opens. See "Approval - [selected elements]" window. Properties The properties of the selected page list or the selected page position(s) are displayed (shortcut: Command + I). See Page list properties) or Page position properties. Prerequisite: This menu command can only be used if a page list or at least one page position is selected. Delete The selected elements are deleted after a confirmation prompt (shortcut: Command + Del). Paste to "Gang Job" Copied pages that are in the clipboard are inserted into the current gang job (shortcut: Command + Shift + CV). Paste Copied pages or page positions are inserted into the open job (shortcut: Command + V). Copy The selected pages or page positions are copied to the clipboard (shortcut: Command + C). Comment You can enter a comment for the selected document, which will be displayed immediately in the comments column. Refresh Source Pages Modified source pages of a gang job are refreshed. Assignment Presentation The view is switched to the assignment presentation (can also be done with F9 key). This view lets you assign pages fast and clearly using drag-and-drop. Clicking again or pressing F9 will switch back to the original view. The document pages that are to be assigned to the page list positions (page placeholders) are located in the left-hand area. The page list positions are located in the right section. You can now select one or more document pages and drag them to the desired page list position by holding down the left mouse button and then dropping them there. See also Assignment Presentation. If several document pages are selected at the same time, the subsequent page list positions are automatically filled. Show Thumbnails The list display in the "Pages" view changes to thumbnail view (a checkmark is now placed in front of the context menu command) (F4 key). Selecting the context menu command again or pressing the F4 key switches back to the list view. Reload Selected Thumbnails The selected thumbnails are reloaded from the source file. Collapse All All open lower levels are closed (shortcut: Alt + left arrow key). Expand All All closed lower levels are opened (shortcut: Alt + Right arrow key).
